And, last year I decided to cook a turkey breast in it for Thanksgiving but had to cut it in half because it wouldn't fit in the cooker otherwise. The Hamilton Beach 4 Quart Programmable Slow Cooker has solved both of those problems with it's oval shape and its timer. And, it's automatic switch to warming after the selected time is over makes sure my dinner remains ready to eat. This year for Thanksgiving I will be slow-cooking a turkey breast again and won't have to cut it in two this time since the Hamilton Beach 4 Quart Programmable Slow Cooker's oval shape will accomodate it easily.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this 4 quart slow cooker to replace a larger Hamilton Beach slow cooker that I had for several years (I gave it to my daughter, it still works perfectly). We recently moved to a house with a much smaller kitchen and this slow cooker is the perfect size. It doesn't require much storage space but is large enough to make a good sized meal or a batch of soup. Cleanup is easy. The crock and lid go right into the dishwasher. I do miss the digital control on my old slow cooker but I am very happy with this slow cooker and highly recommend it for a couple or small family.

I did brown the meat in a skillet before placing in the cooker. Instructions were clear and the programable feature was terrific. It came out great and the perfect size for 2.

It is very easy to program and I really like that it switches over to warm when the time is up. I also like that the heating is around the sides and not just the bottom. It worked very well and I’ll be using it a lot. I really can’t think of any negative things about it.

Has an automatic shut-off after 14 hours for safety. One nice feature is, for instance, you set it for 2 hours of cooking time, and you are delayed, it will switch to warm up to a total of 14 hours (including cooking time).

This appliance gives me the simplicity I’m used to plus extensive options as far as programming temperatures and cooking times. Even with all these options, it was easy for me to figure out how to program it using the controls. I can use the slow cooker to make pretty much any dish I desire. The size is versatile; at 4 quarts, it doesn’t take up a lot of counter space, but it fits a large chicken easily. I love that the stoneware and lid remove easily for cleaning. The design is not just functional, it’s really modern and attractive. I think this slow cooker is the kind of kitchen staple that anyone could use and enjoy.
