submitted bySC Cook - 2 months agoA: I'm guessing that since this "pot" holds liquids, it wouldn't be good to fill it to the brim (2 quarts) and have it get hot and boil over. You don't drink coffee from a full to brim cup ...

Q: do i have to cook for hours or can i cook in 30mins or so in this
A: It will take at least 10-15 minutes to get up to the desired temperature setting because it has to heat up the ceramic vessel. Then the cooking will begin at that point…it will take at least an hour to cook something from room temperature…these are meant for longer cooks or keeping things warm and ready to eat over a period of time…if you need shorter time, you might want to use a microwave.

Q: Does the ceramic insert contain lead which might leach into food over time?
A: Hello! We regularly employ rigorous third-party testing to ensure that our Slow Cookers meet or exceed all applicable laws, regulations and industry standards, including those related to lead content. Consumers should feel confident that our Slow Cookers are safe to use. The glaze of our ceramic pots is a silicate made of quartz, feldspar and clay. The glaze is covered over the pot, fired at high temperature to melt the glaze and then cooled down. The glaze liquid is then turned into coating the same as glass film on the surface of the pot. This does not contain PTFE & PFOA. The FDA specifies allowable amounts of lead, cadmium and other substances. All the glazes that we use meet or exceed FDA requirements. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Q: How hot is the temperature on high
A: Hello. Thank you for reaching out to us. On your Crock-Pot 2qt Manual Slow Cooker, both high and low stabilize at the same temperature (209°F); it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. On high, it takes approximately 3-4 hours, whereas, on low, it takes approximately 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. Once food reaches the simmer point, total cook time is dependent on the cut and weight of meat to reach the point of maximum flavor and texture potential. Most dishes can be prepared on either high or low. This is uniform across all of our current models. In the warm setting, your slow cooker will be between 165-175°F. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via our Contact Us form on our website. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am - 5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Crockpot® Consumer Care
