This item is ridiculous. I purchased it to mix icing and about 2-3 months into using it, the mixer just stopped spinning and started a loud "shirring noise". I exchanged it and the same thing happened to the second one I purchased! When I returned it this time without wanting to exchange it, the nasty woman said "You know you can't return the next one, right?" I said, "M'am, I have no intention of buying anything at Target again so I don't think that will be an issue for me."

It has numbers and a slide knob, but even on the lowest number 2, it is so fast my cookie mix is flying everywhere. Sounds like a speedboat. Not taking back, too much trouble, I will probably leave in the cupboard and never buy another Hamilton Beach anything!

I agree with the other review that stated this is a poor design. There is no slow speed. Dough wraps around the top of the beaters. There is no easy way to clean off the beaters. Flour flies everywhere. I should have checked reviews before purchasing. The handy storage container got me but functionally this mixer is poorly designed. Pass.

1. Slow speed is super fast. Your flour flies everywhere. Goes on to light speed from there. 2. Dough gets stuck at bottom of beaters when using. 3. Beaters do not self clean, even at light speed. You have to slowly, boringly, messingly scrap excess off, and it's a lot of excess. 4. Dough randomly wraps around the top of the beaters. Just skip this one.
