Q: How many inches long are the toaster SLOTS? Thanks!
submitted by Judyae - 3 years ago
A: Just shy of 5 1/2" (model 22714). My nearly 50 year old Proctor Silex, made in Baltimore MD, it replaces was about 5 1/4". That 1/4" makes a big difference.
submitted byAncius - 1 year ago
A: The HamiltonBeach Team's answer is incorrect. I put a 6" slice of rye bread in there and it doesn't even toast the top 1 1/2 inches of the toast. Hamilton Beach needs to test this and correct it.
submitted byMax Daddee - 3 years ago
A: Thank you for your question. The slots on this Hamilton Beach Toaster will measure 6 inches long.

Q: Hi, is there a " prop 65, cancer warning on this by chance? thank you
submitted by susana - 3 years ago
A: Could you clarify? By having the Prop 65 label then that means there is a risk of cancer causing chemicals in your products?
submitted by - 3 years ago
A: Thank you for your question. The label on the bottom of the box, is a notice that the product is compliant with California proposition 65.Proposition 65 requires businesses to notify Californians about significant amounts of chemicals in the products they purchase, in their homes or workplaces, or that are released into the environment. By providing this information, Proposition 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about protecting themselves from exposure to these chemicals. This is not a label saying there is anything in our products that cause cancer, just that Hamilton Beach is compliant with this standard. If a company is not, it is unable to distribute products to California.

Heats the beagles sooo soft. I would use a pan to heat my beagles all unevenly. But this is a time saver and cooks it’s perfectly.

Bought this toaster because of good quality of other Hamilton Beach small kitchen appliances we've owned in the past - including our last toaster. This toaster seems to have smaller slots and does not toast evenly. Anything but the smallest store bread has an un-toasted area at the top. Most bakery bread slices are too long to fit the slots. Even bread that fits toasts unevenly from top to bottom and from one side to the other.

You can literally push the metal in on the sides by barely touching it. Burns your hand to touch the sides after heating one piece of toast. Doesn't heat toast evenly. Burns some spots and doesn't toast other spots. Very very disappointed when compared to my 17 year old proctor silex that finally quit. They just don't make anything with pride anymore and add $$$$ for a second rate produce. Highly diapointed in the quality and workmanship.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Excellent price and product delivers exactly as promised. Perfect for a smaller household. Compact and easy to use, the toasting is pretty fast as well. Highly recommemd.
Wish I had read the reviews before buying, as soon as i put something in to toast i smelled awful burning plastic and ended up finding that there’s a plastic piece inside that you can’t access or remove that melts when the toaster is on! Why isn’t this product recalled already

This works well as a basic toaster. It’s a little weird on how it toasts different things, but it keeps things interesting. I’ve learned that items such as toast get fairly brown on level 2, but things like toaster strudels are barely tan on a level 5. All in all it does it’s job, you just have to learn the intricacies of it.

I read so many reviews before buying this toaster. Just as you may be doing right now. Saw more than one mentioning that upon plugging the toaster in, it starts to smoke. I figured well maybe just a couple bad ones. What happened when I plugged in my brand new toaster?? You guessed it. Smoke. My whole apartment now smells like funky fumes mixed with a smoky smell. This toaster should NOT be on the market.
