Oregon Trail was such a fun game back in the day, I just had to grab this for my husband and I so that one day our kids will get to experience the same thing we did when we were young. My husband played it for over an hour. Although he says he thinks it's different from the one we played, I think his memory may just be bad. (he's 42)
I'd say it's about the size or a little bigger than the average game boy. I had no issues with the screen or buttons. It plays well and the screen is colored.
My daughter unwrapped this today and was extremely excited to try it out! Excitement quickly turned to disappointment when we discovered the battery compartment was full of rust and corrosion. It looks like two of the batteries failed. The item is now showing out of stock so I won’t even be able to replace it.
Being children of the 80s, I got this as a Father’s Day gift for my husband this year. He LOVED it. A couple of weeks later, my 10 year old nephew was talking about how his teacher was showing them Oregon Trail and he was VERY into it. I bought a second one for him for his 11th birthday and he LOVES it! Great for a broad age range, inexpensive, strategy building, educational and fun!
I love the Oregon Trail. It is one of the earliest video games I ever played and I remember fondly the times we got to play it in elementary school while learning about the actual Oregon trail. I only gave this four stars because the screen is soooo tiny! I have a hard time reading the text and seeing the smaller objects/pictures, even with my glasses. I wish they had made it just 1/2" to 1" bigger, the game doesn't have to be this small.
