Would give it a 5 for aesthetics. But as a parent you know that aesthetics is not the priority. Gave it 2 stars for being easy to clean. The seat is not adjustable to actually put the baby into. It’s very narrow. Every child starts to play with their legs or kick. It’s so hard to put a baby if you’re solo, or once they understand how to use their legs and just be a baby.

Baby doesnt fit
1. Took way too long and complicated to assemble. The directions are worse than ikea directions and I’ve built plenty of ikea furniture. 2. My baby didn’t fit. Literally was unable to physically put him in the chair due to the top wood piece which is not adjustable. And even if I did force him in it I would be worried that in an emergency like choking I wouldn’t be able to get him out fast enough without hurting his legs. Love the look of it and it seems easy to clean but have to return it.

Beware
A pain to put together with hard to understand instructions. After almost losing my mind putting it together but slightly bigger than average 1 year old (probably about the size of a 15 month old) didn't fit in it. Couldn't get his legs in. Super bummed. Was excited for this chair.

Great first impression
First impression: beautifully crafted and sturdy. It took me a total of 1 hour to assemble (from unboxing to finished). It would be much easier to have a second pair of hands, but I managed. I was nervous about the assembly because of the other reviews, but it's not too bad, especially if you are a detail-oriented person. The instructions do not have words, but just pictures, so you must identify the small differences from picture to picture. It can be tricky. The most confusing part for me personally was the harness for the seat reducer--but you basically push the Velcro through the slits, then the x-shape piece--proceed to straighten out the straps if they got twisted. The only part of the instructions that I couldn't get complete was hearing a "click' when installing the seat reducer to the top bar. It just slides down (but is later secured by the seat). I'm super impressed to the details, such as the bottoms of the legs have plastic feet- so the wood isn't sliding around on the floor being damaged.

Absolutely hate this highchair. My baby is pretty chunky and I could barely get him into it. It is just like a restaurant highchair, and you have to insert your baby from the top and wiggle their legs into the leg holes. Which is really annoying because you have to bend their legs awkwardly. Don’t get me started on getting them out too. Also, the tray does not have a top liner so you have to wash the entire tray. The only positive thing I can say is that when your baby becomes a toddler it’s a nice footstool. Also can stay close to a table. It was horrible to put together as well. I don’t make reviews very often but the amount of money I’ve spent on this was ridiculous.

Design flaw ! The middle wooden tray isn’t adjustable, which makes it extremely hard to get baby in and out of high chair. Returning immediately. Husband also said it was difficult to assemble.

Not for chunky & tall babies!!
If your baby is chunky & tall this is NOT for you! The chair is beautiful and amazing quality but my baby just didn’t fit for the infant setting! It’s not made for chunky and long babies. My baby’s credentials: 5 months old, 25lbs, 31in. Tall, 12-18 month clothing. I wish it would have worked but it is not for 99th percentile kids

Based on the measurements you shared, your child is significantly above the average size for a 5-month-old. The infant seat insert is designed to provide a secure, supportive fit for younger babies, but children grow at different rates, and some may outgrow this stage sooner than others. The seat insert features adjustable leg openings that can be enlarged by adjusting the straps at the back of the insert. We also recommend removing the click-on tray when placing your child in and out of the chair, as this provides additional room and makes loading much easier. As your child continues to grow, the Alpha+ is designed to transition with them. Do Not Buy - Massive Safety Issue!
I cannot believe this chair is still being sold. Massive safety concerns with this! Chair is not built for bigger babies or for toddlers at all. Impossible to get them to “slide” into the seat and then “slide” out. Tonight our toddler managed to slip down the seat and get his head stuck between the seat and the wooden tray holder. Chair now is sitting in a disassembled pile waiting to go to the dumpster. Horrible design and major safety flaws. Do not buy.

Tray does not adjust
My baby just turned 1 and we have figured out that tray part of the seat does not adjust so it will not be able to grow with her. She is outgrowing it already. It was a great chair while it lasted but I did expect to have to purchase another high chair.

Trash.
I absolutely would not recommend this chair! This thing was a complete hassle and once put together screws stripped and did not work, and also felt like it can detach at any moment. I do not feel like my child is safe in this chair, nor at 8 months does she fit into the chair this thing is so tiny it makes me feel like my child's legs are being hurt badly trying to get her into it now i cannot use it because of that. what a hassle to lug this heavy wood all the way home to open the box to this mess and now even worse i have to find a way to return this.

We also recommend using the included Allen key rather than a power drill, as using a drill can overtighten and strip the screws. This precaution is also noted in the instruction manual. Regarding the fit, the seat insert is designed with adjustable leg openings. By loosening and repositioning the adjustment at the back of the seat insert, you can increase the size of the leg openings to provide a more comfortable fit as your child grows. Might be better for smaller babies
I wanted to like this high chair but the design just didn’t work. My baby is six months and doesn’t comfortably fit in the seat with the plastic seat. She didn’t fit at all with the cushioning. She’s average size. I tried to remove the plastic seat but it’s attached to the front safety bar. Also, anytime you want to adjust the plank where the feet rest, you have to loosen the bolts in the entire side of the chair to move the plank. Overall it looks like good material and sturdy but my baby didn’t fit into it without feeling like she was going to snap her knees.

What in the German engineering os going on here?
I can only assume the “+” in Arketa+ stands for “Pain in the butt” I’ve assembled everything from bicycles to furniture to aircraft parts, and I can honestly say this thing was engineered by a team whose primary goal was to test the limits of human patience. The instructions appear to have been translated from German to Swedish, then to Latin, and finally back into English by a confused squirrel. Every step feels like a puzzle designed by someone who lost a bet. I used to make fun of IKEA. Not anymore. IKEA engineers are now my personal heroes. At least those wonderful Scandinavian wizards understand that humans have hands, emotions, and a desire to see their children live. Arketa+, feels like it was designed by a German engineer who thought, “What if assembling this could also serve as military survival training?” By the time I finished, I had developed new muscles, learned several new curse words, (in German, of course)and gained a profound appreciation for products that arrive already assembled. Would I recommend it? Only if you enjoy frustration, emotional growth through suffering, and explaining to your spouse why there are leftover parts that seem “probably optional.”

Not Suitable for 6-Month-Old – Very Tight Fit
I would not recommend this for babies. The seat is extremely narrow with no way to adjust it. My 6-month-old barely fit, and getting her out was difficult. This was really disappointing. This might be better suited as a toddler chair or step stool, but not a practical high chair for infants.

My baby is 6 months and 22 lbs, he does not fit comfortably. Also, its a pain in the butt to get him in and out :( not a good design at all.
