Some things that can cause dandruff are changes in diet, hormonal changes, stress, and changing your hairstyle without changing your shampoo. Also, a flaky, itchy scalp may not always be dandruff. Flaking could be residue from a build-up of hairsprays or other grooming products. If you have a dry, itchy, flaking scalp that does not improve after using anti-dandruff shampoo/conditioner for six weeks you should speak to your doctor.
