Unit for some reason cycles A/C on and off every few minutes at or near preset times. Know is driving up my electric bill with the unnecessary start and stop. Is cheaper to replace the unit than have HVAC company service.
1 reply from Tech Support team - 5 months ago
Hi OLDMANSAM, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We would like to get more details about this like if the system cycles before or after reaching the set point, if the system runs only when the thermostat is displaying 'Cool On' and if the inside temperature goes below the setpoint. Our Support Center link at the top of the page has all the ways you can get in contact with us to discuss where the issue may be.

I have had this product for less than a year. At the beginning it worked great. Now, it starts heating my house 3 hours before it is supposed to kick one. So every morning at 3am I am having to get up to turn it back down. Very frustrated.

Hi CShaw, thank you for your review. Our thermostats have the Smart Response feature that starts the system before scheduled so the setpoint is reached already by the desired time. It is possible to disable this feature. Please press and hold "Menu" and "+" buttons at the same time until you see 'ISU', then press Select. You will see a big number at the center of the screen and number 120 on the top. Press Select until you see 425 on the top, then press the - button to change the big number to 0, press Select and then Home to save and exit.

I bought this product 3 or 4 years ago now to replace a failing AprilAire thermostat from 2002 (when my house was built) on the second story. This thermostat has been working like a charm ever since. Therefore when the second thermostat on the first story of my house failed last year, I decided to get this exact same one. A few things I love about these thermostats: - The modern sleek design compared to the old dated looking ones. - The backlit display makes it very easy to read and works very well, coming on when any button is pressed (unlike some with a button to turn on the back light) - The programmability of the thermostat is awesome. It has week day and week end programming. It also has wake, away, home, and sleep temp presets for all the programming one could need from a thermostat. - Lastly I love the simplicity of the instructions. THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR/CONS - One thing that the people purchasing this thermostat (*cough-cough* the people reviewing it) need to understand is that the thermostat IS NOT showing an incorrect temp nor is it kicking on with a 0.5° temperature differential. The big displayed "room temp" is a temperature sensor in-and-of itself to give a general idea of the temp in the room. There is another sensor in the thermostat that is more accurate which controls the cycling of your system, with a general 1° temp diff.

Have had this unit for at least 3 years with no problems. Replaced the entire heating/cooing system, but chose to keep this thermostat. The HVAC contractor did not try to talk me into a replacement. Changing the pogrom does require finding the online manual for study. However the program does not need much in the way of revisions, once you get it set to match your lifestyle. A nice and useful feature is the temporary over ride , that can be used to make temperature changes that last only until the next program event. I would buy this again, and I would recommend it as well.

I manually lowered the set temp from 83 to 82, the thermostat triggered a/c when the room temp was 81. Many times that a/c keeps running at room temp 78 when the set temp was 80.

Hi, this is not what you should expect. We would like to verify the wiring, configuration and if the thermostat shows 'Cool On' when the inside temperature is 78 and set temperature is 80 but the cool is running. I’ve owned this unit since May 30, 2022. By current standards it’s simply lacking. First, it requires batteries, even though it’s a five-wire device. Second, while the manual says batteries should last six months or so, in my experience it’s closer to three months. Finally, when batteries fail the unit needs to be reprogrammed for time, day, and date. (Too cheap to find a chip with clock and clock memory??? In short, too many corners cut to keep the retail price low. I’m an old guy, and have been using Honeywell thermostats for close to 65 years. This unit simply isn’t up to Honeywell standards.
1 reply from Support team - 2 years ago
Hi Steve Ca, thank you for bringing this to our attention, we appreciate your feedback. If batteries are inserted within two minutes, the time and day will not have to be reset. All other settings like set point temperature, schedule and system configuration are permanently stored in memory, and do not require battery power. Our support team is available 7 days a week, just visit our Support Center link at the top of the page for ways to get in touch and someone would be happy to help in case that you need assistance.

Because this thermostat is installed in a home that is occupied part time, is there a way to have different settings on different days or is M-F all set the same and SS one setting? I don’t want it running on schedule when I’m not here. Have not had long enough to give accurate review.

Hi, to change the setpoint you'll want to press the + or - button, the setpoint is listed on the top of the large numbers. The setpoint will be held until the next scheduled period. You can set a permanent hold by selecting the hold button after adjusting.

Furnace cycling too much “NOT”

I replaced and old Honeywell thermostat. The new thermostat turns the furnace on within .5 C of target temperature. Old thermostat was nearly a full 2 degree Celsius before starting. So the furnace runs no longer with the old thermostat compared to the new one. New one keeps the house temperature much more constant in which it runs the same amount of time as the old one. No different.

I bought this product in Feb 2019 and support told me that the sensor is toast and I should buy a new one. I have had other brands that are working without issues for 5 -10 years but I will tell you now that I will not recommend products from this company moving forward unless they help me with my sensor issue.

This thermostat is about useless for homeowners who wants to change their old thermostats to a new programmable one you can't mount them to your walls without having to buy a mounting plate at an extra cos? We just bought two of these thermostats 5-2 DAY PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT RTH6360 5-2 DAY PROGRAMMABLE THERMOSTAT to change our old ones out but we couldn't mount them do to no mounting bracket or plate. So we had to take them back and get our money back wasn't to happy about wasting gas to have to take them back? plus you have to pay extra money for the brackets to mount them? If Honeywell had any brains they would at least put the bracket in their thermostat boxes to give the homeowners who have older thermostats in their homes the option to be able to change to the new programmable ones without having to pay extra money for the bracket . We liked the thermostat but couldn't use it so very disappointed with Honeywell.

You cannot adjust the temperature differential that is pre set at 1 degree. This results in air conditioner cycling on and off quickly and continuously resulting in high electricity bills.
