Q: How do the round ice cubes form if the top & bottom have holes in them?
submitted by Curious - 4 months ago
A: Hello! There is a video posted on target.com that shows how it works. Water surrounds the cubes & they come out round & clear to look great in your cocktail. Cheers!

You have to fill up the whole thing, then its a pain to pry out the ice balls that aren't anywhere close to perfect circles. waste of money - just go for the 2" cubes. They are way easier.
Nice quality poor design

The silicone lid constantly pops off when freezing and you have to fill the whole container with water for 4 spheres
Doesn't work, not a happy customer

Does not work well. Total waste of time and water How ever did this make it to a shelf for sale. Customer service is non existent, a call center to get you to sign up for a drawing.

Functionally this is not very good as it is not truly a directional freezing tray. The ice did not have an actual sphere shape, there were many bubbles present, and it was a little awkward to work with. Not good for true whiskey appreciators but, if you're just looking for ice, it does a job.

After trying numerous different ice sphere molds this is the best one I’ve found out on the market. Makes worked well with cocktails or just add a little bourbon.
Too expensive overengined

Doesn't work well, bslls are hard to remove. Also most of the ice didn't come out as balls so.e where tear drop shaped. Caused water to spill over as freezing and had to clean the ice from the water spill out of the freezer. Just doesn't work well

Terrible product! Holes in the bottom section of the sphere tray… water simply filled the entire storage base, didn’t freeze properly, and did not make ice. Save your money and don’t buy this!

After reading the reviews I was pretty skeptical that this would work. Viola! It works like a charm! I have crystal clear ice balls, 4 at a time. So slick! Great product!
Don’t bother

I do not recommend. The small sheet of instructions doesn't even accurately describe the product. The holes at the bottom of the spheres end up filling the entire base. Leaving you with a massive block of ice. Very poor design

Works well with a little patience and practice. I use boiled tap water that has cooled and find it produces great results. You can see all of the impurities in the bottom (discarded) section.
Don't do it

There are holes in the top and bottom that are both very poorly chosen. As far as design goes period you cannot easily fill the sphere. All i got after pouring all the water through a tiny hole was a block at the bottom of the container. It may work somehow, but i don't know how
Works great!!

People that gave poor reviews did not do any research or follow instructions. I boiled 3 bottles of water. Poured into a large measuring up and filled the entire tray almost to the top, being sure to add water to each sphere to make sure all bubbles are gone. I gently shook and tapped on it to bring the bubbles up, pushed down on the silicone piece to ensure it was sealed. Froze for 24 hours. Easy peasy. As good as you're gonna get for at home, clear ice.
Dont buy it

Takes up a LOT of room in your freezer. When you fill up to fill up the mold all the water drains to the bottom if the container. The hole for the mold is soooo tiny. Waste of money
Does not make clear ice or spheres

DO NOT RECOMMEND. The ice it makes is neither spherical nor clear. It’s extremely slow and the results are mediocre. It’s not the easiest to use and definitely has some major design flaws. Not sure if the designers ever actually tested this product in the real world.
Not worth the price

It does the job done if you're willing to wait for 12 hours for it to freeze. However, you do need to make sure the bubbles are properly out and the box isn't easy to open once frozen either. Would be better off buying the cheap spherical ice ball maker and fill it up with distilled water.
Pass, better products out there.

My BF and I enjoy crafting pretty/tasty drinks. We are still searching for at home clear ice. Tried making ice spheres 3 times. The first time we didn't add enough water. The 2nd and 3rd time we filled it up all the way, tapped out "bubbles" as instructions suggested and all 3 attempts resulted in non-clear ice with an obvious seam. There are cheaper options out there that give better results. Returning this item.
Great for the price

Cubes are not perfectly clear (some air bubbles) or round (mold separates as the sphere freezes) but for the price it works just fine. I would recommend it.

This item is great. It makes the ice clear. Without all the other additions removing and refreezing.
