Jif Natural Peanut Butter Spread was developed to meet the needs of our consumers who enjoy natural peanut butter and peanut butter spread products, but who may not enjoy the fact that the naturally occurring oil in these products often separates from the formula and so needs to be stirred back in to achieve the preferred consistency. Our Jif Natural contains palm oil, an ingredient derived from natural sources, as a stabilization agent to prevent the oil from separating from the formula and, therefore, eliminates the stirring necessary with other natural products. As a naturally derived ingredient, palm oil is consistent with the product’s name. We also asked consumers about the name before officially naming the products. When provided with a list of the product’s ingredients and several potential names for the product, 69% of consumers either preferred the name Jif Natural or did not have a preference.
