Whole Bengal gram or kala chana is a variety of chickpeas that is used in many cuisines all over the world. But it is most commonly used in India. They are small, dark brown in color and very rich in protein. From sprouted grams till maturity, they are eaten in all stages of their growth.
Culinary Uses:
Kala chana can be incorporated into your diet in numerous ways, typically after being soaked and then boiled or pressure-cooked.
Curries and Stews: A staple use is in hearty curries, such as Kala Chana Masala or Curry, often made with onions, tomatoes, and spices, which pair well with rice, roti, or pooris.
Salads and Chaats: Boiled or sprouted kala chana is excellent in cold preparations. Kala Chana Chaat is a popular street food and snack made by mixing the chickpeas with chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilies, cilantro, and spices.
