A: The Retractable Gate can be mounted into plaster walls. Pre-drilling the holes is recommended.

A: The Retractable Gate does not need to be flush with the floor, but the mechanism to open/close the gate could potentially be out of reach if installed higher.

Q: I need to install over (above) an existing metal gate to keep my cat from jumping over the metal gate. could this be installed above an existing metal gate? trying to be creative.

A: The Retractable Gate can be installed higher than floor level, but that would also put the gate release higher, which could make it more challenging to open and close the gate.

Q: I understand the wall side mount has to be screwed into the wall but does the banister side need to be screwed in or does it use another method? Hoping to not have to drill into my banister.

A: The KidCo K12 Stairway Gate Installation Kit can be used on the banister to avoid drilling into it. There are clamps that secure around the banister and a 36" Wood Shim attaches to the clamps. The gate would then be installed on the wood shim.

A: The gate should not be installed more than 3" off the ground and once installed, the mesh is taut.

Due to doorway measurements and molding placement, have had a hard time finding the appropriate sized gate. Had high hopes for this one based on the reviews. Please be aware the description reads 33.5 inches overall height, but this is incorrect. The mesh part is 33 inches tall. Overall height is 36 inches which sadly is too tall considering my woodwork. The gate is incredibly sturdy and is made of strong materials. The mesh is heavy duty but still looks nice. Looks like a great gate, just misrepresented the dimensions. Will have to return it.

We searched high and low for a gate for the top of the stairs... I didn't wanna have to climb over anything to get down the stairs and I wanted something sturdy enough so my 10 month old or 3 year old couldn't fall through it. This gate is amazing. It was super easy to install , my husband did it in like 5 mins. It's very easy to use. It is definitely worth every penny I would recommend this gate to everyone.

Additionally it is easy to open with one hand when you have something in your hand you are carrying through the gate.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love that the KidCo G2500 Retractable Mesh Barrier Gate is made with a mesh fabric and not the typically metal steel as my toddlers had fallen before while trying to pull themselves up with the metal ones and have banged different parts of their bodies. This gate was pretty simple to install using the hardware that was included. The gate is roughly 33" in height and extends to fit doorways up to 55" and once its installed you can set it so when you pull to extend it will extend to that exact width you selected each time. The release latch was a little tricky the first couple of times I used it while holding my little one in my arms. Another great feature you can remove it and store away when you no longer have a use for it without removing the bracket mounts

It is safe enough that it locks into place and theres no extra room so they can't climb over it or under it. It clicks to lock you push a button and it opens to the exact measurement of what you set it to.

A lot of the baby gates we have looked at are not very sturdy and are a pain to install. This retractable gate makes it so much easier, there is no unhooking. It is so easy to click a button and retract the gate with a toddler on my hip. It also keeps him from going up the stairs and falling. It was very easy to install and is a very high quality.
