Regalo Extra Tall Top of Stair Gate

Assembly instructions are unclear. Forced to return due to inability to assemble. Would not recommend.

I got these for dog containment to replace our old gates. I have two large German Shepherds and we had the old pressure style gates. They kept bulldozing them and I was tired of it. So I got these since they screwed into the wall, had a secure latch, had no floor bar and fully swung out of the way. They did indeed fufill all of that criteria. But they are HARD to assemble. The screws stripped frequently necessary if your own. To get the gate hung, the L hanger design sucks. It's hard to get the brackets for the top and bottom spaced just right so it the hangers fit properly. And the latches are very hard to get lined up properly. Even when they are lined up you need your foot to get the bottom stopper into the bracket in addition to your hand on the top of the gate. Which is annoying and could lead to a failure if you forget. These are installed in hallways, doorways and rooms in my house. I also have a room with one on the top and bottom to contain a puppy when we leave the house. It was relatively easy to modify the latch and flip it to allow me to double stack the gates. So that's helpful. Overall, while there are significant design flaws and and they are difficult to install they are still one of the better baby gates we have owned in terms of containing large breed dogs. Just be prepared. You will be frustrated, you will need extra supplies, it will take an hour+, there will be a lot of trouble shooting, and an extra person is helpful. But if your up for that it's a solid gate for a dog household.

Love this gate! We have two under two and use it for our hallway. I have seen and used other baby gates that have the door in the middle but I would always trip or stub my toe on the bar at the bottom and not to mention the marks it would leave on the walls from sliding up/down or side to side. I wanted a safety gate that was wider, taller, would be flush against the wall when left open and also to be able to vacuum underneath it without having to take it complety off so this gate met all those expectations. Like others have said the safety clip has failed and the gate has easily come completely off which yes sounds scary especially if you're using it for stairs but the little people were trying to protect dont even know how to open the gate for that to happen. I wrapped black electric tape around it and haven't had a problem since.

This gate looks so nice but is seriously terrible in every other way. My husband and I have put together many, many things and for some reason this gate was SO hard to assemble, almost caused a divorce. To add to that, the clip on one of the sides broke after about a month, which was also mentioned in other reviews. 50% of the time when you open it now, it just comes completely off the wall. 100% would not recommend unless it’s a practical joke.

Was good for a month until this broke and now it's useless. up until then it was a great gate! helped keep dogs where they need to be. now I can't find any replacement parts.

The Gate itself is very sturdy but the hardware (screws) are very cheap, the heads are soft and strip before you can get them all the way in the wall, (and that's with pre-drilled holes), have your own screws and you will be ok.

Gate looked like it would work but two of the wood screws broke when I was drilling them into the pilot holes. Waste of money if I have to go back out to buy hardware that actually works.

images look brown this is a black gate don’t be fooled when i called customer service to fix the issue they told me “it looks brown but that must just be for the pictures to show the features” & offered no correction bc after looking at specifications it only comes in black” but the images are all of a brown gate & the specifications do NOT say otherwise so its falsely advertised & misleading. i needed a gate so i installed it anyways sturdy gate, fairly easy to assemble

It is not safe at all. The door broke after using it a few times. Poor quality.

Works great! Talk and sturdy perfect for stairs. Tried several different ones and this is by far the best!

The threads on one of the bolts is so horribly messed up that we cannot properly secure the item to the wall. We bought this a long time ago so now we can’t return it

This gate is absolute garbage. I don’t normally even write reviews but this is so unsafe I want to prevent anyone else from purchasing this. It was a huge pain to install and some of the screws literally broke. We had two gates and had to take screws from the second gate and now we have a useless one. Once installed, I was shocked at how flimsy the whole lock mechanism was. And then over the course of a week or so the hinge came loose and bent such that my 5 year old accidentally lifted the entire gate right out of the hinges trying to open it. Unacceptable. Please do not buy this.

All the screws provided stripped or broke off in our banister. The gate itself is metal and sturdy but the mechanism to hang it very cheap and made of plastic. Awful screws.

Absolutely worst gate Ive ever bought. The screws are so cheap and stripped the first time I put them in. The locks don’t fit together tight and the brackets to fit on the wall broke. Don’t waste your money on the gate. This isn’t safe for children.

The most horrendous installation process. Three of the screws broke off into our wall and we had to pry them out. And why are there entire steps to the process in the footnotes? No one reads those. We’ll see how long it holds up.

WE purchased two of these gates to keep our kiddos safe on our deck last summer and they have been perfect! During a recent storm one of them broke off at the hinges. I called Regalo CS to see if I could get replacement hinges and the team was fantastic. I picked the wrong hinges the first go round and when I called again they are sending me the correct hinges free of charge! Missi was so awesome and I grately appreciated how understanding she was and not being charged twice for the hinges. Love the gate, loved the customer service!!

We bought this to help corral a new puppy. Installation was easy enough, we chose to mount it and thought it was the perfect solution. Made it about two weeks before the pieces broke off from the wall mount and now it's unuseable. Very disappointed.

It was missing parts so I didn't really get to test it. The latch mechanism looks so simple I'm sure my 2 year old would have figured out how to open it in no time

Missing pieces and instructions were hard to read. Spend the extra $10 on a better gate
