A: Hi Barb, 71" is the maximum width when installed inside an opening, 69" when installed outside of an opening. These widths these are from gate mount to catch mount. For a wider gate option please reach out to us direct so we can assist.

A: Hi there, yes this gate has a locking feature. Twist the gate knob to release, then the gate will automatically lock once you've stopped extending it/latched it onto the catch mounts.

This gate worked great until my toddler figure out he could squeeze under it. Unfortunately, over time, there was nothing we could do to keep the gate tight enough to stop him from squeezing under. Not safe for stairs and not reliable.

We mounted this at the bottom of our stairs to keep the dog downstairs. He can't get under it, as others have complained because the bottom step blocks him. We didn't want to drill into our newel posts, so we attached the hooks to a piece of scrap wood and used velcro straps to strap that to one newel post, then velcro'd the roll part to the other newel post. It's a bit awkward but does the trick. We leave the roll unlocked so that we can push down a bit on the fabric and climb over easily, rather than opening and closing it every time. I like it enough that I'm considering drilling into the newel posts to permanently install it, because the velcro solution is a bit flimsy and doesn't look great. Based on all the reviews about babies and puppies getting under it, I'd say it's probably best for excluding them from a room, but not at the top of the stairs. For us, it's fine at the bottom of the stairs.

Install instructions a little tricky if you have baseboards and shoe molding. Top latch connects well at receiving wall Bottom latch gets caught on baseboard Even with spacers Also. Puppies will figure out how to crawl under the fabric in the center when gate is closed. But they are very cute so I can’t get mad !!!!

Anyone that had troubles installing this or comprehending the instructions should never be allowed to vote. It was literally installed in less than 10 minutes with zero issues. It is a bit "flimsy" but thats to be expected from a soft gate that rolls up. Should work as intended and hopefully the inner spring lasts a while.

purchased this as a replacement to other gate that "wore out". need to contain dog when away from home. small dogs can squeeze under and get out. would work for a medium sized dog. i have weaker hands so need 2 hands to open and close. i liked how there is no bar on the bottom to trip over and that when retracted leaves a wider opening.

Super difficult to open especially if you only have 1 hand free. Hate this gate. I got a momcozy one on Amazon that is way easier to open and it’s the same thing. The locking mechanism is also better on the momcozy.

To operate with one hand: Push and twist the release knob to unlock, then release the knob (no need to hold onto the knob), then using the same hand pull the handle to extend the gate. This gate lasted us two months. The hooks on the top and bottom both snapped off leaving nothing for the gate to attach to. My toddlers are also able to push the other side of the gate off of the wall, they have escaped their area multiple times. You also are unable to use one hand, you have to twist the lock while undoing the side.
