Q: Is it possible to disable the beeping completely? The settings have vol levels 1-8 but level 1 is still pretty loud. Is it possible to mute?
A: Hi, thanks for reaching out about Kids' Gaming Camera. It is incredibly common for these kids' "gaming cameras" to use a simplified sound chip where Level 1 is simply the lowest voltage the speaker can handle, rather than a true silent mode. Since the software usually doesn't allow a 0/Mute setting, here are the three most effective ways to quiet it down: 1. The "Parental Hack" (Tape) The most successful way to "mute" these cameras without opening them is to use the Tape & Foam method. Locate the Speaker: Look for small pinholes or a plastic grill (usually on the back near the screen or on the bottom). Apply Tape: Cover the holes with a piece of heavy-duty tape (like electrical tape or duct tape). The "Muffle" Pro Tip: For even better results, put a tiny piece of a cotton ball or a scrap of foam over the holes first, then tape over that. This absorbs the sound waves before they hit the tape, making it significantly quieter than just tape alone. 2. Check the "System" vs. "Game" Settings Some of these cameras have two different places for volume: In-Game Settings: If you are inside a game, pressing a specific button (often the "Star" or "Menu" button) might bring up a game-specific volume that can be muted. System Settings: From the main home screen, look for a Gear icon. Occasionally, there is a setting for "Beep" or "Key Tone" that can be toggled to "Off," even if the general volume slider doesn't go to zero.
