La Roche-Posay Effaclar Medicated Gel Cleanser with Saclicylic Acid is a medicated face cleanser developed with dermatologists, targets excess oil, pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads for clearer skin. It contains 2% Salicylic Acid Acne Medication to fight acne breakouts and Lipo Hydroxy Acid to remove debris and dirt from the skin's surface without harsh scrub particles that may irritate skin. I heard a lot of good reviews about this cleanser so I was so excited to try it. The first week, I saw results immediately. My acne was better and I barely experienced breakouts. However, I noticed my eye area was dry, red, and itchy. It was so uncomfortable. Sucks really. The cleanser is great but I'll find another one that doesn't dry out my eye area.

I have struggled with acne my whole life. This product has helped me a lot. There is no scent which helps with my sensitive skin. It lathers very well. A little goes a long way! I would reccomend this product to anyone and I will continue to use this!

I have been using this face wash for four years now, and it has been a game changer for my acne-prone skin! However, it can make your face really dry, so I recommend following up with a good moisturizer. As someone who has struggled with acne my whole life, I have nothing bad to say about this product; it has significantly reduced my breakouts. I still experience some acne monthly due to my period, but it's nowhere near as bad as it used to be!

This stuff is AWESOME! I have been using it for 2 months daily and I see a significant reduction in break outs. I have HS, which is a skin disease that can create boils and outbreaks in uncomfortable areas sometimes. I started washing my body head to toe with this cleanser and I haven’t had a major breakout since. If you have acne prone skin, this needs to be in your cabinet of go to daily routines. You won’t regret it.

I have had very acne prone skin, and even was on extreme acne medication as a teenager for relief. As I have came off the medication and experimented with different “acne safe” products, this one has been the ONLY one to not only keep my skin clear but not cause any sort of breakouts whatsoever. It’s light, it’s hydrating and the bottle lasts quite a while. 5 stars and officially one of my holy grail products!

This medicated gel cleanser is the best I've used-- it keeps my face clear of unwanted blemishes and "would-be" breakouts. I love that it is unscented, lathers nicely and yet only a small amount is needed for cleansing! I've added this to my growing list of LaRoche-Posay items that I use.

I have very bumpy skin. It’s like white heads and blackheads beneath the skin. I decided to give this a try because it has 2% salicylic acid and wanted to see if it would work for me. I’ve been using it for the past month and I haven’t noticed much of a change other than my skin feels very clean and I haven’t broken out since using it. I know skincare products takes a lot of time and consistency so I might have to give it much more time to get a true opinion of it. One thing I have noticed is that it really dehydrates my skin, makes it sensitive to other skincare products, and irritates the mouth and nose area a little bit (I think it’s because of the scent). I like to pair this with the Nivea crème to help with the mosturization. I’ll need to update this review in a few months to see if it does work.

This product did absolutely nothing for my acne. My acne actually got worse. The only redeeming qualities is that it does a nice job of removing dirt/oils, and it lathers nicely.

I’ve been using this product for a few months now. It was recommended to me by my esthetician because I was looking for a product to help with my hormonal acne. If you know then you know hormonal acne SUCKS, and I was getting it every month about a week or two before my menstrual cycle would come. I haven’t gotten any hormonal acne since I’ve started using this product. I would definitely recommend it if your skin is acne prone in general.

I have been using this for two weeks, twice a week and my skin has already cleared up so wonderfully. I was worried that this would make me dry and it does not. It does have a medicated smell, but it’s tolerable. The package is sleek and it works nice.

I rarely write reviews, but I had to with this one This product SAVED my skin. I have dry, sensitive skin that breaks out randomly with changes in pH, the weather, workouts, whatever. I was dealing with a massive breakout on my cheek for MONTHS and couldn't figure out what was causing it. Finally, out of desperation, started alternating my face wash with this one. Within three days, my breakout was almost gone. Be aware that this will dry your skin, so I would only use it once per day if you also have dry skin. I was worried it would be TOO drying (as salicylic acid products can often be), but when followed up with a thick moisturizer, I have no dryness at all. I like to use the Lipikar AP+ moisturizing cream and my holy grail, the Cicaplast B5 Baume. I've continued to use this in my rotation (3-4 nights/week) and apart of the occasional hormonal pimple, have yet to have a new breakout. I could not recommend this face wash enough.

I LOVE this cleanser. I have oily, acne-prone skin and it effectively and quickly clears my skin. It doesn’t dry my skin out, and doesn’t have much for a scent. It’s a clear gel texture. I’m ordering my next tube now!
