It did not slow things down too much and did not have any side effects. I had used another brand of anti-diarrheal med in the past and it made me nausated

He doesn't really like taking pills or chewables so I'm glad it comes in a powder form i can mix in his drink, it dissolves well and he can't tell it's in there. It also seems to give him some relief in little time.
