the back is extremely hard to build on as the entire thing is very flimsy and the back kept popping off, had to reinforce with my own spare pieces i have lying around

This is my favorite build thus far. Two small things that would make it even better are: 1- If Light blocks would be awesome if they came with this already expensive set, specially that it pictures spot lights shining up the sky. 3rd party kits are too expensive and let's admit it, nothing beats Lego! 2- If the plate-frame of this build would be reinforced by doubling its thickness, for exemple with a minimized modular system: If standing on a table or desk using the build-in feet, the plate-frame sides of this build start to curl inwords towards the center due to the weight and surface tightening of the Lego pieces.

I am a different LEGO fan as I am the adult fan that like display pieces from the IDEAS/ICON theme more then a LEGO city set with mini figures guy, I tried a set or two with city sets and started too lean towards the icon/ideas sets. I heard about this set I was really excited about it and wondered what it would look like. I was not disappointed when it did come out . I was still un sure of it due to the price. So I did my research and read and watched reviews and took a leap of faith and bought it as a Christmas present for myself last Christmas and just recently finished it. The various piece usage was great! Using the frog piece as a lion or gargoyle on building just awesome. I was not bored building this set as each bag started to develop the scene or building. However I thought the designers could have been smarter and use less bricks in some areas for instance when using 1 1x1 and a 1x 2 pc together for a section when clearly a 1 x 3 could have been used. This was through out the set at times. THIS IS A DISPLAY set and not a playable set why the mini figures not every set needs them? I personally don’t see the need for them especially if it adds to the price of the set. Display-I was never going to hang it on the wall so to me this was a feature that could have gone away (save on number of LEGO pcs used and that could have gone to the printed tile cost. Sorry LEGO it is a nice feature but not for me. Yes another review about stickers, yes there are a lot of stickers. I tend to shy away from sets with a lot of stickers. Personally I thought half of them could have been printed pieces especially the really small ones (Clay Face tv screens and the museum charity banner). If the designers/ LEGO would have cut down on the number of pcs as reference above and got rid of the mini figures I think at least half of the stickers could have been printed tiles with the cost saving. For myself I would have loved to seen all the characters tiles printed and there again pcs like the cells in Arkham and the police station or the bat cave could have be 2 x whatever pcs instead of individual tiles of 2 x4), plus BATMAN is a printed red tile so it could have been done. Option 2) is at least half of printed tiles for all the pcs that are on top of the set-the Police Blimps, the various building signage and have all the easter eggs be stickers -why? You don’t see those right away when looking at the set. I think LEGO needs to review the cost of stickers/pc count and adding mini figures to sets. I understand LEGO justifying the cost and pcs of a set and cover the price of licensing. LEGO is not going to make everyone happy -some want it all printed tiles, mini figures, a great pc count and a really fair price-that is not going to happen (Sorry various reviewers and LAN members). It is a tightrope act for them. In the end I really like this set. I am glad I did my research and got it. The build was fun and enjoyable stickers and all. I love displaying it and showing it off to people. I do hope to see more of this type of diorama come out (the Superman animated series come to mind and it doesn’t have to be that big as this).
PERFECT for any fan of the show!

Absolutely gorgeous, a massive build that's kept me busy! I've been assembling it for the last 3 days (after work) and I'm not quite halfway done, but I'm loving every step of the way. The instructions are clear and easy to follow (though I wish the darker bricks had white outlines and one of the orange-brown shades looks red on the manuals). It's been a joy to build and has done more to get me hooked on Lego than anything. It's FULL of tiny fun references, and has been an absolute joy to put together. It's still only half-finished, I've only had it for 4 days and am assembling it after work hours, but I'm super excited to get it finished, and plan on adding lights after the fact to make it even better! 10/10 for any Bat-fan.

A gorgeous work of art that captures the exceptional TV show with multiple easter eggs. This is one of Lego's best art to date with a skyline's striking color mix and will definitely stand out as a backdrop. The creative design by Lego team in building technique is amazing as it's non-repetitive at all and the meticulous panel and brick combination renders it all flawlessly. With an investment of this, you would expect some printed panel pieces, however, an abundance in sticker inclusion is not acceptable. This is the one of the major drawbacks. In addition, the minifigures are average at best. For the price a couple more should have been included (Penguin and Riddler). The prints on the Catwoman and Joker are inaccurate to some extent. Beside all that, this is still a must-have for any Batman fan of the show.

I bought this for myself to celebrate my 40th birthday. Lego needs to make more like this as I enjoyed every bit of the intricacies and frustrations with assembling the halves together. I don’t care to play with it. I just want to mount it on my wall next to my Batwing!

I have always been a lego fan and a Batman fan. This set combines it all! I finally got to retire and so my lego journey begins LOL. I am absolutely loving it. The kit is relatively easy (but you must pay attention), the pages sometimes stick together and it’s easy to miss a step. I love the colors and the hidden features below the exterior city. I would love some of the exterior features to be on a hinge that could open more easily to reveal the hidden features that lay below. Otherwise it’s perfect.

Great visual set and brilliant detail. But this set might be the most unplanned book for building of all time. The order of instruction makes this such a pain and difficult build as the boards are to flimsy to just slot on and all of the detail already built means it’s even worse to take apart. Evidently the book was made without anyone actually trying it in that order

I enjoyed building the set. The pictures do not do it justice. It captures the magic of the classic series I grew up with and fits perfectly on my bookshelf.

I must say, this is one of the most enjoyable builds I’ve ever done! The build techniques for the “layering” of this cityscape are SO clever in places. Also: since it’s such a unique build, you’ve really gotta watch what you’re doing - not in a stressful way, but in a challenging one. It’s a beautiful piece of art when it’s all done, too. I took my time with this one, doled out my build sessions in small increments, and enjoyed every minute of it, even when I had to go back and fix errors lol. Watching the skyline take shape as I built was magical. Bravo, Lego engineers! Wonderfully creative way to build!

My wife and I enjoyed building Gotham, More her than Myself. It looks good with a few more DC builds we have. We did add the characters and ledge to the frame.
