Q: Can this be used on a Lodge grill pan?

A: Yes, the rust eraser can be used on the grill pan. To use a rust eraser, simply rub it over the affected area, similar to how you would use a pencil eraser or a piece of sandpaper. This will effectively remove most of the rust. If you’re using it on cast iron cookware, after removing the rust, clean the surface with a damp cloth to wipe away any residue. Then, dry the cookware thoroughly with a paper towel. To protect it from future rusting, rub a small amount of cooking oil onto the surface and re-season the cookware in the oven.

A: The Lodge rust eraser is designed for Lodge cast iron cookware, so I cannot say if the eraser would be safe on your stainless steel cookware.

A: It should. All you need to do with it is rub the affected area like you would with a pencil eraser or piece of sandpaper. This removes most of the rust.

A: Cast iron is silver in color. As you rub away the rust, you may also be removing the seasoning. This is why you are seeing the bare cast iron.

Q: What is the eraser made of and does it leave a residue?

A: The rust eraser is made of rubber and silicon carbide. They are bound together into a solid brick for easy handling. It does leave a residue similar to an eraser. You simply wipe out the residue after use.

It works with little effort
Some people in my house like to use my cast iron pans and then let them sit in the wet sink when they are done. By the time I find them, they already have rust spots. I got one of these rust erasers, not expecting much. I was beyond shocked the first time I used it and how easy it was to literally erase the rust spots off of my pan. I am now a believer!

crazy effective
I used this on a couple of caste iron pans I got at Goodwill. Scraped quite literally everything off including the rust and grime when used with vinegar. So effective that it turns an hours-long process into maybe thirty minutes. Love it!

Nice little eraser
Well dang. The texture of this is like a literal eraser. I don’t have a before picture, but it was so bad, trust me. No good baked on, just rusty due to the owners not knowing how to properly care for cast iron…I did use more than the eraser, but I used it first, then soaked it in 1cup vinegar 1 cup water for a few hours. Then scrubbed it with some barkeepers friend and then washed it with soap and water and oiled it, put it upside down in 450° oven for an hour took it out. The oil had all evaporated, spray some olive oil and rubbed it in again and put it back in for 20 minutes

Works like a charm! Beware that in removing the rust it will strip your cast iron to its core, you will see straight up silver. That being said, make sure to reseason it and be grateful to have an easy rust remover.
