The Love To Dream Swaddle UP Transition Bag is designed to transition your baby from swaddled sleeping to arms-free sleeping. Parents know that swaddling their newborns is important. Babies between two to three months grow fast, and when they are able to roll over or show signs that their startle reflex has diminished, they are ready to be transitioned from swaddling to arms-free sleeping. But this transition can sometimes be hard because babies may still have some startle reflex present and they are used to being swaddled. The Love To Dream team designed the Swaddle UP Transition Bag, formerly called Swaddle UP 50/50, – which is Stage 2 in Love To Dream’s 3 Stage Sleep System - to make this transition easy for both baby and parents. The Swaddle UP Transition Bag shares the same features as the Swaddle UP Original, but with the added versatility of patented zip-off wings. The Swaddle UP Transition Bag will gently transition your baby from sleeping snuggly swaddled towards having the independence of sleeping with his or her arms free. The zipper design makes it easy to go back to the original swaddle design if your baby is not ready to transition. Once your little one is comfortable with both wings removed, the Swaddle UP Transition Bag can be used like a snug and comfy wearable blanket, but with baby still feeling swaddled. Since 2008, Love To Dream has been finding simple, yet genius solutions to everyday parenting and baby needs. Our desire was always to create products that looked great and more importantly provided a solution to a parenting challenge. The best news of all is that our products work! So everyone in the family will achieve a better night’s sleep. Functionality, usefulness and innovation are key for Love To Dream. It is vital that we offer products to parents (just like us) that will make their lives simpler and less stressful.

Q: What would be the best size for my baby? She is 14lbs & 26" long
submitted by Swaddle mom - 9 years ago
A: You need a medium - 13-19lbs.
submitted byMamatuck - 9 years ago
A: Based on the size chart on the back of the package, your daughter fits medium for weight but just barely based on her height (the medium says it goes to 26.4"). My daughter is really tall as well (yet petite), so if it were me, I would go with a large so you get more use out of it. Hope this helps a little bit!
submitted byimp1994 - 9 years ago
Q: my son is wearing this both arms free and rolled onto his stomach in his sleep. since he is arms free can he continue to wear this if he is rolling?
submitted by username - 8 months ago
A: Hi! Yes! The Transition Bags are meant to be used when baby starts to show signs of rolling. This allows them to transition to arms free while have that swaddled feeing and having their hands free to push themselves up or roll back the other way.

Q: My daughter is almost 15 lbs but is 26.75 inches tall. Which size would you recommend?
submitted by Laura - 9 months ago
A: Hi - We recommend starting with the child's weight when selecting a size. Our size M goes up to 19 lbs and 27" in length. Thanks!

Q: What weight does the large one accommodate? My son is quickly growing out of his current one. But I can only get the large shipped. So I want to know before I buy it.

A: Hi There! Our Large is for 19-24 lbs. Hope this helps!

Q: just got this for my daughter today. when do I take off the wings for arms free sleeping?
submitted by girlmomxox - 2 years ago
A: As a baby gets older, they start to move around the crib, this is part of their development and is great for them. You should not inhibit this natural desire for movement and your baby's arms should not be restricted when they are able to roll over. Also, SIDS and KIDS do not recommend swaddling a baby that is able to roll as this can pose a safety risk.
Irrespective of which swaddling method you use; you should stop swaddling your baby as soon as he or she starts to show signs of being able to roll over independently. This usually occurs around 4 months however all babies are unique.
At this time your baby's startle reflex should have calmed and you can transition your baby out of swaddling into 'arms free' sleeping.
The Swaddle UP™ Transition Bag is a great way to prepare your baby for the transition from being swaddled to 'arms free' independent sleep, all while preserving your baby’s cherished sleep routine.
There are a few quick tips that really help with transitioning your baby from Stage 1 to Stage 2 in the Love To Dream™ range:
Tip 1. Place your baby in the Transition Bag, with both wings ON and allow him to fall asleep. Once he's fast asleep, quietly and carefully unzip one wing, doing your best not to wake him. (maybe practice when the suit is off, to get the feel of removing the wing gently and without disruption).
Tip 2. Try removing the wing of the least dominant hand as this arm tends to move around less. You may notice he grabs with his right hand - keep this one in the Wing and unzip the other.
Tip 3. Repeat this process over 2 or 3 sleeps (day or night), until baby realizes on waking that he has the one arm free.
Tip 4. As your baby gets used to sleeping with one arm free, it's time to remove the other wing.
Tip 5. Put your baby down to sleep with just the one arm out, and one in. When he is fast asleep, repeat carefully unzipping off the other wing. Repeat for a couple of sleeps until baby is comfortable with waking with TWO arms free.

Q: My son is just over 12 pounds and 23 in long. Is a medium the correct size that i should get him?
submitted by Swaddle up Transition - 2 years ago
A: At Love To Dream we take so many factors into consideration when designing and producing all our garments, to ensure that they are effective, durable and of course safe for babies. We perform intensive fit and wear testing to ensure the best fit according to our size guide below, however, we appreciate that all babies are different and unique in shape and size.
Please keep in mind that the fabric of the Swaddles stretches to almost double its size when stretched which helps reduce the risk of swaddling babies too tight.
We recommend that you always buy our Swaddle UP™’ according to the weight recommendations in our size chart as it is dangerous to use a swaddle that is incorrectly weighted for your baby as this may pose a risk due to a neck-hole being too big and allowing the baby’s head to pass through and the excess material possibly covering the baby's face. However, as your little one is at the top end of the scale, if you choose to place him/her in the Medium size, please use your discretion as the parent to ensure the neck hole is not too big.
Remember, for swaddling to be effective the garment should be snug fitting.
As far as the Swaddle length is concerned, if your baby’s legs touch the bottom of the Swaddle UP™ but the fit across the body is correct then keep using this Swaddle UP™ as it's not too short! The length of the bag has been specially designed to be a little shorter so that as your baby grows they can push against the bottom of the bag. This pushing action and feeling ’the ends’ of the bag contribute to further self-soothing. Furthermore, it shouldn't bother your baby as babies generally sleep in a "splayed" (frog-like position).
So once again, although the Small size is the recommended size for 12lbs because your baby is almost there, please first check the neck hole is suitable before you place him/her in the larger size, before sleep time.
Thank you!

Q: My baby is 10 lbs 22 in would the medium be too big for him?
submitted by bee - 3 years ago
A: Hello! Our products are designed to be snug to help calm babies' startle reflex. Unlike baby clothes, we don't suggest 'sizing up' so baby can grow into it. At 10 lbs, a Small would be the correct size. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Q: What is the length of the forearm portion? I feel like my son has long arms and his arms are too squished with his wrist bent over in his other swaddle (another brand)
submitted by Meg - 4 years ago
A: Hi Meg--the size of the 'wings' changes based on the size of the Swaddle Up Transition Bag. Please reach out to our Customer Care team at support@lovetodreamusa.zendesk.com and they'll be happy to help!

Q: For 13 pounds, should I get the original swaddle up medium or the transition in medium? What would be the difference
submitted by Amanda - 5 years ago
A: The biggest component would be if your little one is showing signs of rolling. If they are not showing signs of rolling, we would advise to go with the Swaddle UP. The Transition Bag has removable wings and the zippers can cause there to be less stretch and thus should be used when they are ready to transition to arms-free sleep.

Brand expert
Q: Can you start with the 50/50 as 0-3 months vs buying the original and then having to buy another one= the 50/50
submitted by Rach - 6 years ago
A: It may be somewhat large for a newborn and won’t be very helpful with the Moro reflex (the purpose of swaddling). From my experience, if your baby is at least 10lbs, the medium will fit well enough.
The Love to Dream transition swaddle has received high praise from guests for its innovative design that allows babies to sleep comfortably with their arms up. Many guests noted that it has significantly improved their baby's sleep quality, making it easier for them to self-soothe. The soft fabric and double zipper feature for easy diaper changes are also highlighted as key benefits. However, some guests expressed concerns about the fit around the neck and arm areas, suggesting room for improvement.

We absolutely love the Love to Dream Swaddle!
After trying several other swaddles, this one was a total game-changer. Our baby instantly slept longer and seemed so much more comfortable with his arms up. The design makes middle-of-the-night diaper changes super easy (no need to fully unwrap), and the fabric is soft, breathable, and perfect for layering in different temperatures. We also love that it transitions so easily as baby grows — it made the shift from swaddled to arms-free sleep completely stress-free. Truly worth every penny!

Best Swaddle out there
My baby doesn’t sleep without it. Out of all the swaddles we tried, this was by far the best and our little one loved it.

love the concept!
my little boy loves sleeping with his arms up but once he started showing signs of rolling we knew our original love to dream needed to go, luckily with the transition swaddle it was a smooth and easy process and now we sleep with no sleeves!

Great concept, arm too short
Baby and family really love the product line but this particular item, the convertible, doesn’t have enough room for the arm. There needs to be a bit more length there. Baby is well-shielded from zipper for armhole when arm zipped up, not sure yet when worn sleeveless.

Godsend!
Such a life saver! Our 2mo started to break out of swaddling and really hate it. I was looking for a transition swaddle and found this one. She slept so well last night without trying to break out or being startled.

Hazard
The fabric of this transition sleep sack is great but the design is terrible. The area around my babies neck pushes back way too much and the further he lifts his arms the worse it gets. The arm area is also extremely small and doesn’t look comfortable at all. I personally don’t think these should be sold until this is fixed it’s dangerous.

Didnt work for us
We loved the Love To Dream arms up swaddle so I thought this would be great for transitioning to a swaddle but honestly my baby hated it. He did not like having one arm out and woke up multiple times at night. We ended up just going cold turkey into a swaddle and that worked out much better for us.

Not the best for transition.
I liked the regular love to dream swaddle but as a transition product this one didn’t do the job for my baby. Once she started wanting to move her arms more to soothe it just frustrated her to not be able to get her hands. Then if I let her hands fully out she would startle reflex too much still. The Merlin Sleep Suit ended up working much better for us for those reasons. Helped the startle reflex while allowing her full access to her hands.

never arrived, ordered TWICE
I tried ordering the swaddle on Amazon and on target and my Amazon order got "Lost" and so I just got a refund, and my target order said it was gonna be delivered two days ago, and it still hasn't. I don't know what the problem is. it's very annoying as I need this to get a good nights sleep, but for some reason it can never arrive to my house.

Neck line pushes back into neck
Trying to find the next alternative to a swaddle now my son can break out of those and is 4 months old but unfortunately I do not like this sleep sack. The neck area/zipper pushed into my baby’s neck. I have the correct size sack as my baby fits nicely inside it, but once my baby lies down and his arms are up in the arm holders, it naturally slides up and pushes too much into his neck for me to feel comfortable allowing him to sleep like that safely. I wanted to like it but I unfortunately did not like this sleep sack.

Love this swaddle!!
We have used these swaddles for both of our babies. When we started using these again, I remembered why I loved it so much 4 years ago. Both our babies have been amazing sleepers and I could swear these are the reason!
