Description

Keep your clothes fresh, clean and free of germs with Lysol Laundry Sanitizer!

Our clothes are in constant contact with bacteria throughout our day-to-day activities, from hugging other people, brushing against contaminated surfaces and even our own bodies. Bacteria can spread from one fabric to another in the laundry basket, from the washing-machine drum to the next load. Some of these bacteria can survive following the wash cycle!

When it comes to certain laundry loads such as children's clothes or sportswear, you want to eliminate bacteria that may cause illnesses and create lingering bad smells. But laundry detergents alone don't actually kill all bacteria. Lysol Laundry Sanitizer is an additive specially designed to kill 99.9% of bacteria in laundry*. Simply add Lysol Laundry Sanitizer to your rinse cycle. It does not contain any chlorine bleach and even works in cold water, so is safe to use on most fabrics including whites, colors and darks.

Q: Why do we need to sanitize everything?

submitted by This is stupid - 7 years ago
  • A: If you go to the details under this product on the Target website and hit see more. All the full directions on how to use and more are there.

submitted byTxrunaway - 6 years ago
  • A: I know this question is two years old, but I'm pretty sure they're wanting this now. People sanitize things for various reasons; where they work, where they bought the clothes, just to be clean.

submitted byNadia - 4 years ago
  • A: No one is forcing you to purchase. They came out with the product because of people like you who don't feel the need to be clean.

submitted byBK - 7 years ago
  • A: Because some of us have jobs where our clothes get gross stuff on them and if they're not washed with sanitizer(can't use bleach, have black uniform) they start to stink horribly

    submitted bykatiep1200 - 7 years ago
  • A: This product is perfect for people who purchase clothing at thrift shops, yard sales, second-hand stores, etc.

submitted bySoupyjune - 7 years ago
  • A: Nobody said "we need to sanitize everything." Some people need to sanitize some things. For example, I have cloth bedding for my guinea pigs. I can wash it on hot, but it still doesn't come out smelling fresh. I don't "need to sanitize everything", but to avoid bad smells & bacteria from guinea pig bedding, It behooves me to sanitize it.

submitted byLisaBee - 6 years ago

Q: How do I use it there are no instructions on bottle, do I add to the detergent or the rinse cycle

submitted by jdth - 8 years ago
  • A: Open the back sticker for recommended dosing. It says to add to the rinse cycle and let it soak for at least 20+ minutes (I have top loading old machine, I just reopen once it adds water for the rinse and add the sanitizer, leaving it open for 20 minutes, then close it to drain). Most washers should have a pause/delay feature that doesn't force an immediate drain, if it doesn't let you specify a longer period you may need to remain nearby to select it multiple times. Not all laundry needs this level of sanitizing, high water temps and high dryer setting for certain things like towels is fine. I only use on clothes that I've worn in public during this pandemic, before that it was only my work uniform.

submitted byRAR - 5 years ago
  • A: Rinse cyle go to lysol for instruction.

    submitted byMOM0307 - 8 years ago
  • A: There are instructions on the back. It's one of those labels that you have to peel the sticker and you'll see the instructions. Basically, pour 2 capfuls (line one) in the rinse cycle or pour it in the softener thingy. You have option to soak for 15 min. Also, if you have HE washer, i think it says pour 1 capful - not sure on that.

    submitted bydmae712 - 8 years ago
  • A: This is my second bottle and I add a capful into the wash with detergent.

submitted byKimmeeT - 8 years ago
  • A: I read on the Lysol website that it needs to soak in just water for at least 15 minutes to properly sanitize the clothing...it said not to mix with detergent or softener or it will deactivate the sanitizer...i just soak first with sanitizer then add detergent and start cycle..(I work in a lichen, pant bottoms get GROSS!)

    submitted bykatiep1200 - 7 years ago

Q: Will this kill the bacteria that causes athletes foot and toe fungus? I have googled and can only see information about COVID on the bottle and website

submitted by Alib - 11 months ago
  • A: You might try Hibiclens for your feet. Also, original Listerine. Not in the laundry but for your feet.

submitted byKelly - 7 months ago
  • A: Thanks for reaching out! Our Lysol Laundry Sanitizer - Crisp linen can effectively kill Trichophyton interdigitale, Candida albicans, and Candida parapsilosis. We hope that this information helps! Sincerely, Your Lysol Team.

Q: i dont have a place for an additive for rinse cycle. cant believe it. my lid locks. should i soak 15 min in washer before washing?

submitted by Grandma - 2 years ago
  • A: If you don't have a fabric softener compartment or a way to add the product directly to the rinse cycle, unfortunately you won't be able to use this product.

submitted byLysol Team - 2 years ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Yes, you can. I soak my clothes with it for probably over 16 minutes. After that I wash with detergent and also add it to the fabric softener component. Yours must be an older washing machine

    submitted byFoxychica4345 - 11 months ago
  • A: I know they make fabric softener balls that you can use to dispense fabric softener at the right time. In theory it could maybe work for this product too to dispense later in the washing cycle.

submitted byJill - 6 months ago

Q: I am concerned about chemical residue in my clothing since it releases during the rinse cycle. Will it work as well if I “pre-wash” my clothes with only Lysol sanitizer and then run regular wash cycle with only laundry detergent?

submitted by Laur - 4 years ago
  • A: Actually, on the instructions it does say you can use it as a pre soak treatment for 16 minutes. After that you wash like you normally would. I pre soak and add it to the fabric softener slot too.

    submitted byFoxychica4345 - 11 months ago
  • A: It is advised to use this product in the rinse cycle or to place it in the fabric softener compartment of your machine. Always use the proper dosage instructions as indicated on the label, based on the size of the load prior to using this product. The product does wash off fabric during the cycle.

Q: How does this effect a septic system/etc? Will it kill the good bacteria too and effectually cause issues?

submitted by DD - 5 years ago
  • A: If you overuse this product or other sanitizing products that are going down your drain they could negatively affect the good bacteria need to treat your wastewater in your septic system.

submitted bySara Heger - 5 years ago
  • A: When used as directed on the product label, Lysol Laundry Sanitizer is appropriate for use with septic systems.

Q: I have a puppy in the hospital with Parvo. I have to sanitize everything she came into contact with. Will this help?

submitted by LC - 6 years ago
  • A: You should consult with a reputable vet about how to best kill Parvo. From experience I can tell you that it's not easy to kill & bleach is usually involved. As this product does not contain bleach I'm doubtful it would be effective. You can always call the number on the bottle to be 100% sure.

submitted bySparkleGirl - 6 years ago
  • A: Lysol® Laundry Sanitizer kills 99.9% of bacteria like Staphylococcus Aureus & Klebsiella pneumoniae. Lysol® products have not been proven effective against Parvovirus.

Q: So since you have to add it to the rinse cycle and have to put it in the fabric softener compartment is it OK to mix it with the fabric softener?

submitted by Kim - 7 years ago
  • A: No, you should not mix it. Skip fabric softener when using Lysol Crisp Linen Scented Laundry Sanitizer.

submitted byvavo - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes that's fine.......

submitted byMM - 7 years ago

Q: How smelly is it? I prefer unscented...

submitted by collibeth - 8 years ago
  • A: It's not the worse smell but trust me your clothes will come out smelling fresh and clean. Someone said to add it to the rinse cycle or Fabric softner cycle but I use mine with detergent and detergent booster .

submitted byKimmeeT - 8 years ago
  • A: They now make an unscented variety. This isn't it.

A lot of products claim to do certain stuff so who knows if this really does what it claims. But I'll let it give me a peace of mind. I used it to pre-soak in the tub (cold water only per directions for presoak) and then used it in the washer in the fabric softener compartment with hot water setting. This product claims it works in cold water too if you need to do a cold wash cycle. The smell is very pleasant, nice and clean. I don't think it's too overwhelming. Would I purchase this again? Yes.

Strong smell

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the idea of sanitizing my laundry and getting the germs and bacteria out, especially because I work out a lot. But this product has a strong smell that I am not partial to. It does seem to wash off the clothes, but I had a hard time using the product because of the smell. Also, the print on the packaging was so small that I had a hard time reading the instructions. Finally, it says you have to use this in the rinse cycle, but I’m never going to stand by my washer to manually add it. I did use it in the fabric softener compartment, but it’s so thin it went right through and was in the laundry before it even started. Overall, not the best experience with the product. I’m sure that it works well and actually disinfects, but it’s not something I’ll be using moving forward.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a teenage son who’s an athlete and this has been a game-changer. His clothes are always sweaty after practice and games, and this keeps them perfectly clean while eliminating all odor. I don’t need to worry about it damaging his uniforms because it doesn’t contain bleach and can be used effectively in cold water. It kills odor causing bacteria along with cold, flu, and other viruses. I also use it to wash our towels. It keeps them fluffy and fresh!

Lysol’s Laundry Sanitizer is an amazing additive to both whites and colored clothes, refreshing fabric and killing bacteria! I can’t wait to clean this disgusting dog bed cover with a capful of laundry sanitizer this afternoon! Bonus: Because it has no bleach, it works AWESOME on my gym clothes. I spend a lot money on fitness attire, and this keeps it safe!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Lysol Laundry Sanitizer Crisp Linen Scent Just what I needed for my laundry routine and didn’t even know it. For the past week or so, a cold has ran rampant throughout my household. No amount of cleaning has made a difference. This product shows up and wow, what a difference it has made. I’ve done the laundry, multiple times in fact, but I have a suspicion that germs were lingering within the fabrics regardless. Not only do I have the confidence that this will make a difference removing the bacteria and germs, it leaves behind a fresh clean linen scent. Elimnating 99.9% of bacteria, including; cold & flu virus, influenza A, covid-19, RSV, staphylococcus aureus, klebsiella pneumoniae, SARS-CoV-2 with a pre-soak or added to the rinse cycle, following the directions stated on the bottle.

I really like that it claims to kill different bacteria and viruses because let’s be honest… towels can get gross fast. I feel like it’s totally worth the money, and I’m definitely adding this to my regular laundry lineup.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love reviewing items that I end up recommending. This laundry sanitizer is great for sheets, towels, and work clothes. It smells great too! It’s very thin, unlike traditional laundry detergent. The measuring cup tells you how much to use, and the company recommends placing it inside of the fabric softener tray. I washed the boys sheets last night and they still smell so good, plus I have peace knowing I’m sanitizing the sheets from bacteria.
