Book Synopsis

From the acclaimed author of Mao's America comes the untold story of how misguided and selfish U.S. elites transformed China from a Communist wasteland into a global superpower--at America's expense.

One of the most effective anti-communist voices in America today, Xi Van Fleet made waves with her breakout book Mao's America, exposing eerie parallels between China's past and America's present woke revolution. Now, alongside renowned Chinese dissident Yu Jie, she sounds the alarm once more--revealing how the CCP's rise was not just enabled by Soviet Russia but, shockingly, by the United States itself.

Understanding this hidden history is essential for Americans in confronting the CCP's global ambitions and stopping the spread of Communism at home.

For over a century, progressive and Communist ideologies have steadily infiltrated American society, shaping U.S.-China policies that have, intentionally or not, empowered the CCP. From its founding in 1921 to its brutal takeover of China 28 years later, the CCP's ascent was fueled by foreign support--first from the Soviets, then increasingly from the U.S. After the Sino-Soviet split and the near-collapse of China, the United States emerged as the CCP's primary enabler, helping transform it into the world's second-largest economy and our greatest geopolitical threat.

Most Americans remain unaware of their own country's role in the CCP's unprecedented success. While others have explored pieces of this story, no book has revealed the full picture--until now. With meticulous research and unflinching clarity, this book exposes the uncomfortable truth: to effectively counter the CCP, we must first dismantle communist influence at home.

Review Quotes

"While every day, more Americans understand the true nature of the Chinese Communist Party, the role that American business and political elites have played in enabling the rise of the CCP has been under appreciated. Now Xi Van Fleet and Yu Jie document in these pages how this was a conscious strategy designed by the CCP to nurture American dependence. They provide an important account, supported by their first-hand experiences with the CCP, and they convincingly argue that the frontline of America's systemic rivalry with the Chinese Communist Party is not in some distant country, but right here at home.--John Moolenaar, Congressman, Chair of Select Committee on the CCP

"Both Xi Van Fleet and I came from Chengdu, Sichuan Province of China, yet we found each other here in America, united in the fight against communism and in sounding the alarm to the American people. Her new book Made in America is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand a vital but hidden history--how America's failure to grasp communism has led us to this moment, confronting the greatest threat in our nation's history: Communist China."--Lily Tang Williams, Republican Congressional Candidate and Anti-Communist Freedom Advocate

"Communism remains a grave threat to American freedom. Xi Van Fleet, who survived Mao's Cultural Revolution, understands this firsthand. This fearless book lays out the history we overlooked and a warning that Communist tactics are resurfacing here at home. Clear and courageous." --Dr. Ben Carson, Founder and Chairman of the American Cornerstone Institute

"Since the CCP's founding in 1921 and Communist China's in 1949, the United States has repeatedly misjudged both. In Made in America, Xi Van Fleet and Yu Jie reveal how America's misjudgment enabled China's rise--and how the same Marxist ideology that once destroyed China is now taking root in the United States. Americans must heed their warning before it's too late."--Chen Guangcheng, Chinese Human Rights Activist and 2020 RNC Speaker

"What is the greatest mistake in America's history? That is Washington's rescue and support of China's Communist Party. This could also be our country's last mistake. Xi Van Fleet and Yu Jie explain all this in their critically important Made in America."--Gordon Chang, Author, and China Analyst

About the Author

Xi Van Fleet was born in China, lived through the Cultural Revolution, and was sent to work in the countryside at the age of 16. After Mao's death, she was able to go to college to study English and has lived in the United States since 1986. In 2021, she delivered a school board speech in Loudoun County, Virginia, against Critical Race Theory that went viral and ignited national media attention. She now devotes her time and energy full time to warning about the dangers of communism. Since going public with her message, Xi Van Fleet has appeared on Fox News, Newsmax, and radio shows and podcasts across the country. She is the author of Mao's America.

Yu Jie is a well-known dissident from China. Writing is both Yu Jie's profession and his calling. He has authored over 90 books--totaling 15 million Chinese characters--across a wide range of subjects. His mission is to wield the power of words against Marxist-Leninist-Maoist-Xiist totalitarianism and to challenge Western leftist ideology, while advancing American conservative political philosophy within the Chinese-speaking world. Now based in the D.C. area, he founded the Asia-Pacific Institute for Religious Freedom and Democratization. In 2018, he became a U.S. citizen.
