smell!!
smells awful!!! no matter how long or short amount of time you keep your butter in there it will smell within only a few hours, feels unsafe to consume after smelling that, if you open the jar your whole kitchen will smell like it’s rotting. almost like sulfur

Cracked and Leaks!
Absolutely horrible. Got this product home , put butter in the bell and a small amt of water in the bottom only to find it LEAKED all over the counter. This product had a tiny hole in the stone that could not be seen until unpackaged at home. This should come in a box or have better packaging to protect it until bought and used. What a disaster. Now I have to return it but I don’t plan on purchasing another after this experience!

Beautiful, but butter smells terrible after keeping in there. I’ve kept butter in a glass jar on counter for years, upgraded to this because it’s nicer looking, and I’ve tried with and without water and the butter smells and tastes terrible and makes me nervous to eat. I think ceramic or glass works better for a butter bell unfortunately.

Beautiful heavy weight "stone " is nice. Capacity of container for the butter is ridiculously small. Like 2 tablespoons. I don't feel like adding butter every single day. I prefer a container that can hold at least 1/2 cup. I do not recommend

Not Food Safe
Not food safe at all. I have tried using it multiple times over the last 6 months and the butter always ends up stained from the marble and tasting strange (wasted a lot of expensive irish butter in the process). Now the marble smells like rancid butter. I only gave 2 stars because it is cute and I will keep it as decoration if I can get the smell out. Otherwise, save your money.

I was looking for a butter bell and they were all like at least $20 on Amazon and they look like they belong in a rustic country farmhouse which isn’t my vibe. Then I found this beauty and it was cheaper than the others, perfect. It is nice and sturdy because it’s marble which makes it heavy but it just sits on my counter which is fine. Get a ceramic one instead!
Like the look but would return if I didnt throw away the packaging. This is marble, which absorbs odors and I forgot that when I purchased this in store. Even after washing it, it smelled like chemical and after putting my half stick of butter in it, my butter smelled and tasted just like the chemical scent. Would not recommend. I bought a ceramic one instead, those are 1000% better than marble butter bells.

Doesn't hold much butter
I am giving this 3 stars because of how it looks. It also works as it is supposed to, keeping the butter fresh on the counter. The problem is that it does not hold enough butter. Most butter crocks hold a whole stick of butter. This crock holds only a half. I am not a big butter user, but my husband is. It seemed like I was refilling this every other day.
