[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mateo's Gourmet Hot Salsa is a delicious option in the crowded salsa market. The heat is strong, but does not quite overpower the flavor, which is nice. I appreciate that Mateo's Gourmet Salsa uses all-natural ingredients, making it a healthier option. I tried the salsa a few times, and was most impressed with it on a plain baked potato. The flavor was front and center, and really improved the taste of the potato. I would recommend this salsa to anyone looking for a flavorful, healthier, and artificial preservative-free option.

Not my favorite
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This wasn’t bad, texture wise it felt authentic. I wasn’t a fan of the flavor. It was spicy which was nice, but watery. I didn’t taste everything, I mixed it up and made sure I got everything. The spicy was there but nothing else.

So… here’s the deal — when the jar says HOT, they’re not joking! 😂 I thought I could handle it, but wow, this salsa packs a serious punch. The heat hits fast, but the flavor keeps you coming back — smoky, fresh, and that perfect restaurant-style texture. I tried it with tortilla chips first (mouth on fire but happy!) and then added it to tacos, which took things to a whole new level. “That’s hot”

It’s hard for me to come by a salsa that claims it’s HOT when it’s really not and just had an overpowering tomato taste instead of that specific salsa taste I love. Welp… Mateos has that. I LOVE spicy stuff. So when I say this salsa had a KICK to it, just be warned that for a “normal” persons mouth … it’d probably feel like your tongue was in the deepest infernos of hell. (LOL). I would definitely recommend this salsa to anyone looking to try a new salsa. But possibly go to the less spicy version if you don’t do well with the heat!

Spicy natural goodness

The ingredients are very natural, and there are no preservatives added so it really tastes clean and fresh. The hot variety actually is hot, so depending on your tolerance, you might not be able to eat a lot. Our only complaint is that it's a little runny, so it's hard to dip into it. Wish the ingredients were a bit chunkier to help with this, but it's overall a solid salsa.

One of my favorites
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Mateo’s is one of my favorite salsa brands. This was my first time trying the hot. It was pretty spicy but an enjoyable heat. I enjoyed it was chips and salads as well as over tacos and other meals.
