Maxi-Cosi Kani Convertible Car Seat - Caspian Caviar

The materials are ultra soft like you would expect from Maxi Cosi. I bought the Maxi Cosi Pria 85 for my oldest child back in 2018, so this is a nice updated version we're using for my littlest addition. I love the slim design that fits my little sedan, even with another carseat in the back. It's roomy enough for them to use for years and years. One of my favorite parts of the carseat is the magnetic buckle closure. It takes a bit to get used to if you're not used to that kind of feature. I really can't say enough how soft the material is and it feels easy to clean. Another great feature is two cup holders, one we use for water and another we use for a cup of snacks. The crevaces in the carseat make it easy to vacuum out those said snacks. I love the black color which is sure to hide stains really well, unlike my other grey carseat. The buckle also feels very secure. The only drawback to this carseat that I can possibly see is that it's relatively heavy, but it's also feeling much sturdier than my other carseat. I'd feel comfortable bringing this on an airplane and have them handle it, unlike my other one from a different brand. The overall value is top notch right here. This is a carseat that is built to last for all ages. It goes without saying that the carseat manual is easy to read, so installation is a breeze, even for a first time parent. I am glad we have this!

The Maxi-Cosi Kani 4-in-1 offers impressive quality at an amazing value. The car seat has a slim, space-saving design which a top priority as a small vehicle owner! It fits well in my back seat, even next to another car seat. In addition, the installation process was surprisingly simple; within minutes I was able to get everything level and tight. My favorite feature by far is the 4-in-1 mode. The car seat can transition into four stages: from rear-facing to forward-facing, then to high-back booster and a backless booster seat. This is highly convenient as it means we can avoid buying multiple car seats as our child grows. Overall, the Maxi-Cosi Kani 4-in-1 has been an excellent addition to our car. I recommend it to any parent looking for a long-term car seat!

My favorite part is the ease of buckling and tighten the straps once I put my baby in, that’s a huge plus for me! The installation was a little annoying but it’s not a seat I’ll be taking in and out so it won’t bother me really. Love that I can just buy one seat and keep it while my baby grows. The fabric was very nice and the details from the actual car seat to the removable cup holders was a very nice neutral design. I really like the slim, 4-in-1 design because as I was installing it, I noticed that there was actually still space on the side of my captain chair as well as behind the seat. I compared it to another car seat that we have and it really does make for a big difference when space is limited. Something else I noticed was that as my baby grows, it has an easy hand grasp at the back to recline or incline the car seat depending on what you need. It was simple for figure out and I can foresee this being handy as we reach the next level in aging up with this carseat. The installation process was very easy. The built in latch mechanism is GOLD when trying to install and even uninstall. It makes it simplified all around especially when needing to move around car seats with multiple kids. My favorite feature of this car seat has to be that the chest clip buckle is a clip, but magnetic! I have not seen this yet on a car seat and I actually love it! As a mom of 4, it takes a lot to impress me with car seats, but this car seat is hands down the easiest to install and adjust as my child grows. What is amazing is that the adjustment for the headrest actually adjusts the shoulder straps simultaneously! There is no need to rethread the shoulder straps as your little one grows! This also makes it easier to fit the seat properly. My only issue is that the release for the harness is at a bit of an awkward angle when trying to loosen. The harness itself is held together by a magnetic release that my little one (18 months) has yet to figure out, which I am grateful for. I also appreciate how I only need to have one car seat. The carseat looks nice and my toddler was comfortable in it. I like that it will grow with her throughout childhood. She only has used it in the forward facing mode. I like that there are no added flame retardants, as this means a lot to me for my children to not sit in extra chemicals during car rides. I do not need to do three carseats across currently, but if I decide to have another baby, it is a nice option! I would recommend this carseat to anyone looking for an easy to install, nice looking, clean material carseat.

I’ve always felt that this brand’s seats run on the bulkier side, so I was pleasantly surprised by how slim this one is. It’s still a bit larger than some other options, but I was able to fit it in my smaller SUV alongside an infant seat and another slim-fit car seat. It was easy to adjust for my child, and the placement of the forward-facing belt path makes it super quick to buckle. The only part that took me a minute was adjusting the bottom buckle, but once I realized the booster attachment just needs to come off, it was a breeze. I also like that the straps move easily out of the way for my child to climb in. My child says it’s very comfortable and I can tell it has plenty of cushion and support, which gives me extra peace of mind on longer drives. I’m still getting used to the magnetic chest clip. I like that it’s simple to buckle, but it’s a bit tricky to unbuckle one-handed. I love that this car seat can grow with my child and that we’ll be able to use it long term. The design is classy and one of my favorite features is how easily the booster attachment clicks out. That would be so handy in a pinch or an emergency when you need a quick transfer. This is such a beautiful and functional car seat. Overall the car seat works well for both rear facing and forward facing and my toddler loves getting in and out of it. We also have another car seat from Maxi Cosi but my toddler seems to prefer this one. The pros: - frf fabric is a huge plus for us, we actually don't use any car seats that have flame retardant chemicals - love that the cupholders are removable and dishwasher safe, my toddlers are so messy - super easy headrest adjustment (makes it easy to swap between my kids) - and really..it's such a pretty car seat. The cons: - It fits in our car fine because we only need two car seats but this is considered a slim car seat and I'm having a hard time imagining fitting three of these across unless they're not all facing the same way - we had some issues with installing: for the lower anchor installation, the manual emphasizes that the belt adjustment must be on the child's left and that the arrows on the connector must go up. But when we install the car seat rear facing and we have the adjuster on the left with the arrows up, the part you need to pull to actually adjust on the adjuster is facing inside making it difficult to pull and get a tight install. - Tightening and loosening the harness isn't so easy. I have to use a lot more strength than normal - just a minor inconvenience. Overall stills seems like a great car seat and works for our needs great!

Overall, I'd say that the car seat has some fantastic long-term value given the convertible functionality. One seat to cover years, upon years to come. Hard to beat that when deciding which product to select and I'm hopeful that the product holds up well (it seems like it will, with comfortable and durable fabric and cushioning!) INSTALL: For better or worse, I recently installed another car seat in our family's second car and that experience is fresh in my mind, so some of the critique here is comparison-based. Installation of the Maxi Cosi Kani seat was rather daunting, largely due to what I would deem an average set of instructions. The instructions are at times vague both in language and visuals. Installation with the standard seat-belt and LATCH anchor belt are co-mingled and this can get a bit confusing. The booklet can feel a bit like a choose your own adventure book, needing to flip back and forth when you need to accomplish a task like adjusting the buckle location. Once I got the seat in the car and started working through the installation, the instruction booklet started to make more sense. I ultimately felt comfortable finally getting things all set. COMFORT AND OPERATION: As mentioned, once it was all installed, the operation and clear comfort of the seat were big plusses and easily on par with our other car seat - the Maxi might even be more comfortable at this point. Our little one (1yr old) seems to find it comfortable on trips of all duration, and getting in and out is relatively easy considering it is a fixed/non-rotating model. And this might sound silly, but I think my favorite feature might be the magnetic chest strap - whoever came up with these is brilliant. All in all, if you can push through the installation, you'll be rewarded (likely for years to come!) In the future, I'd love to see some installation videos from Maxi - and am hopeful they add some to their website, as it seems to be a logical addition.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a beautiful carseat if carseats could be beautiful. The leather looking trim and fabrics used look great. The carseat is listed as slim but I wouldn't consider it to be slim but considering it converts through all the stages this is probably as slim as you could get to accommodate the growth. I like the magnetic chest clip, it surprisingly speeds up the buckle process and I don't have to fight with seatbelt to get it latched. (Ref photo). I struggled with adjusting the seat belt straps as when the carseat was installed it was up against the seat back (when rear facing) and there wasnt room to pull it off of that. I was able to adjust and it won't be an issue when forward facing. I am using it for my youngest in rear facing but am looking to have my oldest use it as booster! The cupholders are easily removable which is nice for quick and easy cleaning. The rest of the fabrics seem easy to spot clean and can be removed easily for machine wash as well. I have zero concerns about the longevity of the carseat based on the fabrics and materials used, I doubt it will even show wear years down the road! I am so glad Stellar Product Testing Panel gave me this carseat to try because it truly changed my mindset on carseats in the best way.

It’s currently in my husband’s car (a Honda civic), so I knew we needed a slim version to fit comfortably. My toddler fits very securely in the seat and he looks very comfortable in it. Install was very straightforward and easy and it fits great even in a smaller sedan. People say how comfortable my toddler looks in our other Maxi Cosi car seat and I was really pleased that even in this slimmer car seat, he looks just as comfy. It is beautifully padded and the infant head rest is easy to remove. My baby sits so comfortably in it and fell asleep in it which rarely happens. She has major reflux issues and I love how the Kani provides 5 reclining positions. She loves the third position as it is not too reclined and allows her to sit (and now sleep) peacefully in the car. I think the removable cup holders are a great idea since up till now my ten month old still doesn’t eat in the car. I have two other sons that sit in the back row with her and this car seat is slim enough to give them enough elbow room! The magnetic chest clip is smart, it makes buckling her in much faster! I love how we have everything we need for the next ten years in ONE carseat! It converts to a belt-positioning booster which is the entire chair and then to a backless booster! So smart! I wish I had this 7 years ago, when I had to shop a lot more for transitions. This car seat was very easy to install, it can be adjusted to the babies height quickly and smoothly. It truly is very soft and looks very comfortable for my baby. We have had no tantrums putting her in the car seat as of yet so we are very very pleased!

My favorite feature has to be the narrow design. It fits perfectly in our car while allowing needed room for our additional car seats. While the design is narrow, it doesn’t lack in space for my baby’s body when seated. My little one sits comfortably without being too squished in. If my baby outgrows the current seat setting and everything feels too tight, the seat converts to the next size! The installation process was as simple as installing any other brand of car seats, which was great. However, once installed, I did notice a design flaw that has proven to be a little bit of a challenge. My baby is sitting rear-facing and the seat pushes right up to the leather seat of my vehicle. This is normal. What has been troublesome is the fact that the seat strap release button is also being pushed directly against my vehicle’s leather seat. This makes loosening my baby’s straps very difficult for me. I can barely reach the button and that’s after a struggle to find it. Overall, I do enjoy the Maxi Cosi Kani seat. I can trust that it will protect my child in any unforeseen circumstances. The magnetic buckle wasn’t as big of a concern as I thought it would be. It clicks together easily and stays locked and secure until released. I would say that this car seat is worth its value. I will be able to get many years of use out of it! Its subtle leather-like trim is my favorite part about it—this carseat is definitely more for the style-conscious parent rather than the kid! The slim design is so helpful and gives my 3year old more than enough space to be comfortable. I am thrilled we’ll be able to continue using it until the booster phase. If I could go back to when I first had my baby- I’d definitely go for this 4in 1 design- it makes the best sense financially and environmentally which are two pretty big factors for our family. It was super easy to install as most are. I was excited for the new magnetic clip style, but found it to be slightly tricky to undo! I think I need more time getting used to it. I don’t want to have to buy a new seat every time we hit a carseat maximum height or weight. Installation was easy and straight forward. I actually installed it into my standard size SuV and then our smaller four door sedan and it fit perfectly in both. it feels like a super sturdy quality product. The material is soft and a great color for hiding dirt. My favorite part is the dual cup holders — because we absolutely need a toy or snack and a drink at all times. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was really excited to try a Maxi Cosi since I had heard a lot of good things about quality and kid comfort. Initially I planned to have my 5 year old test this car seat with me. He's on the larger side but still in a 5-point harness. Unfortunately he didn't find the seat to be very comfortable and didn't like the chest buckle. We tried the high back booster for him, but he felt like the headrest was a little large and it was hard for him to see his brother while in the car. He's definitely too small for a no-back booster, but he was quite pleased with this option because of the arm rests. With that behind us, we set about putting the seat together for our 8 month old. He's getting to be heavy for me to lug around in the infant seat so we thought it would be a win-win! Wrong. This was one of the most frustrating installations of a rear facing seat we have done. The book states that the latch belt adjustment must be on the child's left which we could not get to work without a twist in the belt. I took to the Internet and found that all the product testing videos also had the adjustment belt on the right so perhaps this is a typo? It definitely caused us agita. Additionally the harness release is incredibly difficult to find since it's covered and, at least in our car, closely abutts the seat. The harness release felt almost sticky and wasn't a smooth process the first few tries but this has gotten better after a few trips. The one handed chest buckle is a nice feature since I am buckling in the baby with my non-dominant hand, however it takes a lot of force to undo the chest buckle. Overall I think this seat just may not be for us. It does not seem to be slimmer than any of our other car seats. My husband and 5 year old did not find it superior to the 4 in 1 that we currently have and the installation was difficult. In the rear facing mode the one handed chest buckle is a nice feature, but the harness loosening mechanism is hidden exquisitely well. Time will tell if it grows on is, but this may become an infrequently used car seat for a grandparent rather than a day to day workhorse.
