Exceeded expectations

This is my first VR headset. The experience exceeded my expectations and it has been worth the price to explore the different experiences and activities the Quest 2 has to offer. My one complaint is that there is a space in the headset around the nose that let's light in and can be distracting from the experience.

You're not a real Star Wars fan unless you've played the Vader Immortal series. The feeling of having Vader walk towards you holding a lightsaber is honestly both awesome and terrifying. Never experienced anything like it. Highly recommend

Fun but very buggy

I've had power issues, difficultly turning on, having to reset, room recognition failures, giant glitchy remote control icons that don't go away unless you restart the device, really all kinds of buggy things right out of the gate. But it's fun when it works and comfortable if you buy third party accessories. Maybe they'll have it streamlined by dumping money into it for another 10 years. Who knows

Hardware is fine

I have a Rift S and just bought the Quest 2. I love the cordless thing but some changes to the software side would be nice. With the Rift S I can roam around in my VR home environment but with the Quest 2 I can only stand in one place. Its little things like that that need improvement.

Overly Surprised

I owned the first Oculus (SDK) and years later got a Valve Index. I purchased the Quest for my kid and set it up for him. I am really surprised on the hardware, the tracking, the comfort, the roomscale drawing/layout, the battery, and over all product. I did purchase the other headstrap with the extended battery which I think is worth it. Games initially lag as it's loading but then it catches up and there's zero lag after it's going. Decent memory too.

Review after using Meta Quest a couple of months

SOON - 22 days ago

It's heavy, not comfortable with glasses, dizzy, not enough contents. The contents are selling but not satisfied when purchased. I didn't buy this for gaming. I even purchased the game "Savor", which was free for Meta Guest purchaser, but I didn't know how to get it free. I played the game, in 5 minutes when playing I feel bored. The free contents on you tube are mostly dizzy(low resolution) and not interesting. The augmented reality would be better(?) in the future for general users, not gamers. I don't know META should find a attractive and new way or solution to show THE METAVERSE! Like a better resolution of view and how it could be mixed with the real world! That's METAVERSE I expected

Experience Improvement Overtime

Motion sickness was a battle at first, but I was surprised that the symptoms reduced over time. Many of the major apps are repetitive or gimmicky, so I would prefer to utilize applications with more longevity and productivity. I like computer synchronization and want more connections with my other devices. Perhaps productivity apps that can help me learn to cook, trade stock, etc. could be interesting. I wish there was more educational applications too.

I didn't know what to expect when I got my Quest. It was more than even I could imagine. I love the immersive experience that gives me pause from the drama. I recommend it for everyone who may have some difficulty getting out for whatever reason. You find community and creativity. They say if you can visualize it, you can manifest it. Meta Quest and Horizon Worlds bring the visualization processto a whole new level.

So close to satisfactory

Having an all-in-one headset is really convenient, but one of the features I was most excited about was being able to connect a bluetooth keyboard. I type in colemak keyboard layout, and unfortunately this device seems to have no way for me to select my desired layout, so connecting a keyboard is completely rubbish. Maybe one day.

Not where VR needs to be yet

The quest 2 has a multitude of issues. 1. The strap that the quest 2 comes with is nearly unusable. It is not secure, and makes the clarity very poor when moving around. The default strap is extremely uncomfortable and you almost have to buy the elite strap to make the quest 2 usable . 2. The graphics of the games are terrible. In this day in age, we shouldn't need to play games that look like graphics from the 90s. Not much progress has been made, and it's extremely disappointing. 3. The range sensor doesn't work half the time. When taking the headset on and off, even when shifting it slightly, the quest will go black. I needed to put my index finger to cover the distance sensor in order for it to turn on, and once I remove my index finger, half the time it goes black again. Overall, I would not recommend this device. There needs to be many improvements before I can recommend this product.

Physical Limitations

The headset has lot of potential, but needs to be comfortable to hit the mainstream. Due to the comfort of the device I can only do 20 minute sessions. Horizon looks like a cartoon that isn't even as good as Second Life was. You should have made it feeel real instead

The headset is pretty awesome. I find myself trying to constantly adjust to get a good focus. This is my first VR headset so it may be that I just need to get used to it. Other than that, there is a bit of a learning curve to get all of the goodies to work. Once you figure it out, VR is AWESOME.

I've owned other VR headsets that connect to a PC, and I'm really glad I got the quest 2. The set up is so easy and fast. I was surprised to be able to play some games within the first half hour out of the box. Makes it much easier to grab and play on a whim, instead of having to plan out when I want to play VR.

Needs refinement

3 out of 5 stars
Eric - 22 days ago

The good: it's wireless. The resolution isn't that bad. However, there are a lot of things that need improvement, starting with the display. Text needs to be big to be legible, and the display is blurry when more than about 30 degrees from the center. The graphics are passable, but no more than that. Changing the distance between the two lenses should be possible without taking off the headset. After about 30 minutes, the strap starts to be uncomfortable, no matter how I adjust it. The weight is unbalanced, meaning there is more strain on the neck than there needs to be. The system loses track of the controllers when not too far out of the line of sight. It should come with the ability to replace the battery so you can have several and swap them out - at least with an add-on like the Elite Strap. Ideally, there'd be two removable batteries, so you could have three and swap out one at a time.

The games are a blast. VR is a great experience. I find I'm adjusting the position of the headset often and tightening the wheel for vision clarity. I'm now on my third type of strap hoping to find one that keeps equipment stationary. This would not prevent me from purchasing this again. Looking forward to lighter equipment.
