Q: I see that this bed has a California Proposition 65 warning. What is the chemical in the bed that necessitated this warning? Thank you!

submitted by Customer24 - 2 months ago
  • A: Hello and thank you for your question. Proposition 65 is a California law requiring any product that may contain known cancer causing agents to have a Prop 65 warning label. The product in question is required to have the label due to trace amounts of lead chemicals. We test all of our products to ensure they do not contain harmful amounts of these chemicals and are completely safe to have in your home. Have a great day!

Q: Hello, Would a queen sized mattress work? I am ok with a little bit of it sticking out! Please let me know!

submitted by DYP - 4 months ago
  • A: Hello and thank you for your question. This daybed fits a standard twin mattress. A queen will not fit the frame and it would exceed the advised weight capacities. Have a great day.

pros - looks good - fairly solid cons - rough to put together - could use extra supports notes: The instructions say no drill needed, but when placing the slats you will want a drill.

Putting this bed together was nearly impossible. Took 3 hours using a drill. Even with following instructions to a t, half the holes didn’t line up. Very cheaply made, I will be shocked if it makes it 6 months without cracking.

The assembly of this daybed is an absolute nightmare. A lot of the wood pieces came bent and without holes, which made it extremely difficult to put together (in total, it took 4 hours or so to build). Also - the max weight is 200 pounds. That would have been nice to know prior to purchase!

this is the second time i ordered this bed. the first time i didn’t receive all the pieces and returned it. i gave it some time and thought about how bad i really wanted it, and ended up ordering it again. this time everything was perfectly labeled. the instructions were very simple to follow. i put it together mostly myself in about 2-3 hours. i would highly recommend a drill when putting it together for some of the screws to make your life easier. but overall it turned out great!

My 4 year old and I put it together without much fuss. Maybe they changed the instructions, but I found it straightforward. Bed looks just like the picture. Seems sturdy so far. Nothing to compare about. Still decorating the room, but here’s where we’re at so far.

Don't let the reviews about difficult assembly scare you away, it's not bad at all, I did it by myself and everything was labeled. Whenever you use bolts, just don't tighten all of them as you go but leave a little loose to give you wiggle room for assembly, then tighten. You definitely need a power drill for the screws and if you have a hex bit for the bolts even better. I did end up drilling tiny pilot holes in all the ends of the spindles where you place the screws just to make it easier but other than that, it went together perfectly I read some reviews about using twin xl mattress but I used an 8" regular twin from linen spa and by the time I add the mattress pad and cover, it will be a perfect fit.

Horrible to Assemble

One of the worst things I have ever assembled. So many of the holes do not line up or are not pre-drilled. You will need more than just the provided Allen key to complete the assembly. Job to put together would have been cut in half if all the holes were correct. It does look nice once assembled.

Pretty frame! Not as hard to put together!

4 out of 5 stars
Shannon - 1 year ago, Verified purchaser
Prefacing this by saying I have not put a mattress on it yet to test out, but just finished putting it together. The frame itself is really pretty and exactly what I was wanting. I saw many reviews of this frame (both here on Target and elsewhere) stating it was a pain to put together. I did the whole thing on my own inbetween the baby taking naps. Probably took 2-3 hours total but would've been much faster if I had been able to do it in one go. A powered screwdriver (Roto-bit) made fast work of it. I know the manual said not to use one but after tightening the first few hex bolts by hand, I reached for the powered screwdriver. Made the whole thing a breeze and I just did the last bit of tightening by hand. I can definitely see it being a PITA if doing it all by hand though. I saw mentions of a lack of predrilled holes: The only things that didn't have predrilled holes were the decorative rods, the center slat that was attached with a bracket and the slats. None of which I think even needed predrilled holes. I had no issue screwing in the screws both by hand or with the powered screwdriver. I even switched around one of the bottom side pieces so I was missing the hole marks for screwing in the brackets. Wasn't a big deal. I'm a little confused by the center support piece and that it's closer to the front and seemed a little higher up where the "feet" didn't fully touch the ground, but not really going to question it. I had a hard time getting that to slide in and it was a tight fit with the brackets screwed on. I think that was the only thing I really had any trouble with. Hoping it keeps together once I put a mattress on it!

This bed frame was a fabulous choice and purchase. After it was delivered quite quickly, I warned my husband that the reviews of its construction were highly polarized before he put it together for me. So he was constantly updating me during the process on what nice quality the materials were, how well mapped out the packaging and instructions were and how easy it was to get right. He said he preferred that he had to drill the screws into the slats on his own because those pre-drilled holes on such furniture are infamously skewed and troublesome, so yes it took the use of a real drill. I agree that the wood has a lovely finish, the design is way minimal and non-invasive and the thing is sturdy and seems like it will hold up.

Nice and sturdy

This is a nice sturdy daybed. Some holes were missing both on purpose and by mistake. It was easy enough to screw in without the holes but you do need a power tool. I was unable to even get the first screw started. I had my husband put it together in less than an hour. He carefully used a power tool and it can be done. We also put in a twin xl foam mattress. It pokes out the sides a little but it doesn’t bother us at all. I have read reviews where people were saying they wish they had used a twin xl instead of just a twin. I bought this bed hoping that was true. Anyway, nice and sturdy. Looks nice, great price and easy to put together.

I almost didn’t buy this bed because of the reviews (hard to assemble, pieces not predrilled) it was such a good deal for Black Friday I took the chance. Assembly was not difficult with two people, only two spindles were undrilled but did not affect assembly. Overall it’s a perfect daybed for my office.

Tough to tighten and a weak person or an elder person wouldn’t be able to ! I bought this because it was on sale . Still debating on wether to return it and the dresser ! They should be giving me a full refund and then some for the time and trouble ! Looked great it in the pics ....but I would think twice before purchasing this furniture !

I don’t know why so many people complained about assembling this bed, it took me about an hour by myself just looking at the pictures. Overall it looks nice and seems sturdy. A decent amount of the holes that were supposed to be predrilled weren’t. I would recommend using a drill for all of the D screws.

Use a TOW STRAP for instruction #10!

Really like the bed we put together for our grandkid loft! Not the easiest assembly - but follow the directions to a T! I s.t.r.o.n.g.l.y advise using a tow strap for instruction #10 and don’t overscrew or sink the screws in instruction #9. When it comes time to attach the dowel pieces we would have spent HOURS had we not ratcheted the back pieces and dowels in together to bring them in tightly enough to attach the supporting boards. My husband (an engineer) can be credited for the brilliance. The dowels weren’t staying in the holes. By putting the tow strap around the back section and cinching it in we were able to hold the pieces in place firmly while we attached the support. Unless you have 13 hands and the vocabulary of a longshoreman I honestly don’t know how you would do it. Took 2 adults about 1 he 15 min. I bought it knowing what the reviews said so I was honestly expecting worse.

Time Consuming but Lovely

Oh, where do I even begin with this daybed? Yes, it’s beautiful. Yes, the quality for the price is fantastic. Yes, I love it. That being said…there about 150 other things-no, 160 other things-that I’d rather do than EVER assemble this bed again. Some of those include fire. The daybed comes completely, 100% disassembled for your assembling pleasure. If you like puzzles, this might be the bed for you. It took me, a 33 year old woman with a resume of other DIY furniture a mile long, about 3 hours to build by myself, since my husband conveniently went out of town. Pros: -Beautiful. -Sturdy. -Fits the theme of my daughter’s room -Each piece was labeled, and the hardware was nicely separated and labeled in their own bags. That made it easy to lay everything out (which I recommend doing) and get to work. -Instructions were mostly clear, but they need to be followed meticulously. Cons: -Some holes were either not pre-drilled, or were sort-of pre drilled. You drill in the wrong side and sorry, you own those misplaced holes now. -The wood is soft. My wrench slipped and gouged one of the legs. You can’t see it, but I know it’s there. -It’s not for the faint of heart. Unless you host your own home reality show, or you have a team of people, this isn’t something you’re going to be able to throw together in a half hour before dinner. If you can, I hate you. Plan at least 2 hours for assembly. So overall, I approve of it. I can’t speak for longevity, but I have a 6 year old child the size of a pea pod sleeping in it. I’m not worried about it losing support or any of the slats breaking as long as she doesn’t have a mosh pit during her next sleepover. For the cost, this is a nice daybed. I’d buy it again, but only once I complete that 160+ things I’d rather do first.
