[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I opened the box, I noticed the box was like a lid that goes over the ac. The ac was very heavy, and I found it hard to get a hold of because it was lying on its side. Once, I stood it up and found the handles on each side and discovered how easy it rolled across my floor. The ac included the installation kit, which was very easy to clip together the air fitting for the window. The fitting requires 1 screw which I could not find. But it snapped together very her the air fitting for the window. The fitting requires 1 screw which I could not find. But it snapped together very well and it also snaps to the hose outlet too. Once you have the hose setup, you can use the window plates to fit your window and apply the foam. The hose will snap right to the frame. I was shocked how strong the air blew from it. It takes a few minutes for it to cool, but once it does, it will make a room very comfortable. The ac also has buttons on top and an lcd panel. There is a remote too that lights up and displayed the temperature that you want it to be. This is perfect for moving to different areas because of the wheels. It does gave a drain hose that you can use to drain when it's needed or a lower drain to keep a constant drain going. This ac was fantastic and impressed me with the features and the auto moving air vent.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This portable ac unit is absolutely incredible to have. We installed it very easily and it started cooling immediately. We put this in the garage to keep it cool as we hang out there a lot and it’s so hot during the summer. It is not loud at all, it sounds like the motor of a fan in my opinion. My husband could not stop staring at it and was so amazed and excited.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This portable air conditioner is wonderful! In the early days of summer, the temps in the high 90° to 100° this came at a perfect time! Since it includes an installation kit, I have it up and running since I got it! It runs smooth and quiet, and the fan rotates as the air comes out, so it is evenly colding the space. I was rather impressed when I realized I could control it from the smart app and/or with voice command! The traditional way is also available using the remote that is provided. My family and I are impressed!
Quiet, Cool and efficient.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, so I finally caved and got the Duo 12,000 BTU portable AC, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer! My old unit sounded like a jet engine taking off, but this one? It's practically a whisper. I can actually watch TV without subtitles again! Plus, my electric bill isn't giving me heart palpitations anymore, which is a huge win. It just quietly hums along, keeping things perfectly cool and saving me some serious cash. It's not a tiny thing, so make sure you have a spot for it, but honestly, for the comfort and peace it brings, it's totally worth it. My summer just got a whole lot cooler

I only give this 4 stars because it was NOT EASY to install the window components. I actually broke one of the plastic clamps trying to get the hose into the window panel, which means that I'm using black duct tape to seal the gap it created. Having said this, I love that it's portable and I can just wheel it into a corner come Winter. I also love that it's a SMART device and I can turn it on at work and come home to a cooler apartment. I also like the inverter technology (had it in my previous Media window AC), as it adjusts as needed. The vent pivots and really cools quickly, throwing cooled air clear across the room. What I really like is that when it pivots, the air bounces off the ceiling so that every part of the room gets cool and the air is circulated. So far, I love it.....though I'm not looking forward to the end of season and trying to figure out how to peacefully and easily get the window components out.

This unit is really great for all intents and purposes. However as another reviewer mentioned, I’ve had it for 1 day and upon putting it in cooling mode it makes an extremely awful high pitched noise that is in addition to the noise made by the fan. As the other reviewer mentioned if you put it in fan mode the noise goes away.. I’m not sure I can deal with it and might have to return. I got this unit specifically because I’m sensitive to noise and it has this torturous high-pitched squeal. It would be the perfect unit if it wasn’t for this noise *sad face*.

I am very happy with my new ac. I find it to be quiet and very efficient … so far it has exceeded my expectations. The insulated dual hose exhaust is brilliant. The hose is a bit more bulky than others, but it’s so efficient & does not heat up like other portable exhaust hose.

I live in Switzerland and i ordered the midea duo after owning expensive mobile air conditioners from other brands. This product is not sold in Switzerland but i paid the 3xtra shipping cost on ubuy and it was soth it. Built quality is beyond any pther machine i owned and finally there is a mobile air conditioner which can be considered silent. Every other peoduct i owend was advirtesed to be silent but they were all extremely loud when the xompressor kicked in. This one, if turned down to lowest level is almost inaudible and the cool thing is, even if on highest mode, it will automatically reduce speed and volume once apartment is cooled down. I even compared it to two piece split machines and i can definitely say that the external unit on two piece split machines, at least the ones i saw, are way louder. So in case you have rent an apartment and have neighbours right beside, the sound of these machines will disturb your neighbours. Not with the midea duo this one you have in your apartment and once the apartment is cooled down, the machine will be almost silent as the air conditioner will adapt and slow down. Obviously everybody will judge differnetly but i have experience and the midea duo is the very best i have come across and it was worth every penny spent. I can highly recommend this prodcuct.

I bought this portable air conditioner to supplement our main A/C unit during the hot Texas summers. It cools very well, sometimes giving you chills if you stand directly in front of it too long. The inverter technology is very efficient also. I have it hooked into a portable power station in case of power failure, and it averages pulling around 700 watts. Thats way less than a smaller unit we bought several years ago that doesn't have inverter technology. So overall I am very pleased so far.

I live on the Gulf Coast near Houston so bought his AC and a 6500 Watt Generac portable generator for Hurricane season and our frequent power outages. During Hurricane Beryl the AC would trip the GFCI on the generator every time the AC was powered up with nothing else connected. Neither Generac nor Midea's customer service wasn't much help in diagnosing the cause and couldn't really . After the storm passed I ran out an bought a 8K BTU Toshiba portable AC and never encountered an issue for the next four days while we were without power. Did lots of online research and talked to others and finally came up with a work around that seems to be working. The smaller Toshiba was much louder and required much more frequent attention to the water it drained while running on another generator as compared to the Midea's output a. Will test again before the next storm to ensure that the combo will work when I really need it.

Leaks

I have had this product a little over 2 years, and use it for only a couple weeks each summer. It has started leaking out of the bottom; I empty the drain container before each use, but that hasn't solved the problem. The only thing I received from Midea customer service is a note that the warranty has expired and to drain the container. I gave it 2 stars because it worked fine for the 8 weeks that I actually used it ...

It sits on your floor where to drag a hose to your window. The problem begins when your try to clip it into the window inserts and realize these plastic clips barely hold without precision placement. Then, once set, the whole window insert falls into the room because the only thing holding it in the window is another little piece that doesn't even clip. It simply wedges on to the window insert before being pulled off by the weight of the hose pulling the window insert.

We are very disappointed with this AC unit. It failed in the middle of a hot summer. Such an inconvenience and so much wasted money. The unit cycles ON/OFF repeatedly and the app shows "Evaporator low temperature protection". Upon inspection of the air filter and coil it appears the unit is low on charge since the air filter is clean and air flow is fine, while the coil is noticeably very cold at the bottom. Maybe you will have better luck...

Why aren't there more 2-way exterior air venting ACs?

My DUO conditioner is used to cool a minimally insulated 400 CF attic room, and it does an amazing job. I love hearing the compressor quietly spooling up and down as it adjusts to the cooling loads. The directional louver has an amazing range. I have the vent hose laying across a small bed, as the exhaust window is on one side of the bed, the AC the other. No other AC would fit in this location. I layered a blanket over the exhaust hose to insulate the hose heat from the room. And there's no condensate pan to worry about. Only caveat is the plastic exhaust nozzle ring was broken, but quickly fixed with some crazy glue. And love the android controller. Having a 2-way heat exhaust flow is the only venting system that makes sense. Why would you want to exhaust your cooled room air to the exterior? Why aren't there more of these?

God awful high frequency noise when cooling

Well the unit looks nice and has strong cooling capabilities. But immediately upon switching it into cooling mode a very high frequency ear piercing sound is noticeable above the hum of the fan. It stops immediately when you switch it into regular fan mode but starts again as soon as it's put back into cooling mode. Seems to be coming from inside the unit. I've only had it for 1 day now and I'm not sure I can deal with that if continues again tomorrow.

This unit worked great in my home office the first year. It allowed me to keep my office cool while raising the thermostat for the rest of the house. I used it for Summer of 2022 (about 4 months). Fast forward to Summer of 2023, and now the compressor won't turn on. Midea won't do anything about it because it's been over a year since purchase. I got a good 4 months of use out of it, but now it's just an expensive and bulky fan and I have no way of getting it fixed. I guess this will be my last Midea product.
