Q: Why does it contain Phenoxyethanol? I find it odd that it's on the ingredients list for a product that claims to be natural.
A: Good day Maven! Thanks for reaching out! Mielle is held to regulatory standards and formulated without harsh chemicals but with essential oils and nourishing ingredients like caster oil, coconut oil, rosemary, mint, white peony, grapefruit, jojoba... to name just a few. Phenoxyethanol is regulated by agencies such as the FDA and the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS). It is typically used below 1% preventing bacteria, mold, and yeast instead of parabens. Overall, phenoxyethanol plays an important role in ensuring the safety and quality of many cosmetic and personal care products on the market.

Q: Is this best for African American hair? Can Caucasians use it, or would it be too heavy/thick/oily?
A: Good day! The White Peony Leave-in is formulated to be a lighter-weight formula. Our Caucasian Mavens have enjoyed this leave-in as well. It depends on your current hair needs. Don't forget to consider -- routines/regimes, hydration, nutrition/diet, current hair needs/conditions (as this changes), sensitivities/tolerances, internal changes/health, water quality, and body chemistry.
