Q: Are you able to sleep on the trundle safely without lifting it up to the level of the daybed?
A: Hi K. Yes, you can absolutely sleep on the trundle safely without lifting it! It’s built with a strong steel frame and supportive slats, so it’s just as sturdy when used in the lowered position. Many people use it that way as a standalone twin bed. If you prefer, lifting it to the same height as the daybed allows you to create one large sleeping surface.

Q: When using the beds together as one sleeping surface utilizing the twin mattresses, is there a gap between the mattresses? And is the any coupling mechanism to keep the beds from drifting apart?
A: The Trundle Daybed is not intended to combine into a single sleeping surface and therefore gaps may be present. However, you may be able to purchase a bed connector strap or mattress connector from a third-party vendor.

Q: Can I use a 10 inch deep mattress
A: There is approximately 9.6 inches of clearance between the trundle and the bed frame. We recommend a mattress up to 8 inches in height to allow for additional space for a sheet and a thin blanket.

Q: Are the railings...slats fully welded together or are they just piece welded with spaces between? This is the issue we are experiencing with current metal day bed which has led to the bars separating.
A: The slats are not welded together; however, they are designed to stay securely in place to prevent them from popping out.

Q: Can the 2 beds be completely separated so that there is several feet in between them!
A: Yes, the two beds can be completely separated. The trundle is not attached to the main bed, so it can be moved wherever preferred—giving you several feet of space in between if needed.
