Horticultural sand should be left on the container for several weeks, until the problem is solved. These insects do not harm humans and do little plant damage (they primarily feed on the fungus found naturally in soil). This overgrowth typically occurs when the soil excessively wet. The mold that grow on our soils and mulch are generally safe for humans. To address fungal growth, we recommend the following steps: For unused soil: Allow the soil to dry out completely on some newspaper outside before using it.
