This kit is absolutely fantastic. It comes with two digging tools and a magnifying glass, eight planets. These kids spend hours digging for gemstones, and every time they found one, they were so excited and they wash them off and compare them to the paper to find out what kind of stone it was. Not only did they have a blast, but it was such a great learning experience. Definitely will be doing this one again

Fun and engaging learning activity for kids
I got this as a fun learning activity for my kids and they loved it. The planets look surprisingly real and they were able to name each one. The material is sort of messy when digging so you definitely want to make sure you have a big enough area for them to dig. We used a little water to soften the planets so it wasn't so dusty and hard for them to dig. They got two stones out of each planet and they were a good size. My kids really enjoyed this and I would recommend it to anyone.

Fun Dig Kit
These half planets were a great way to learn about the solar system and gemstones. We found it easier to break into them with our hands than the tools, but nice that each had two stones that weren't buried too deep down. Can be messy, so great outdoor activity.

Fun and interactive for all ages!
This kit kept my 5-year-old and 10-year-old engaged for an hour and a half, and some neighbors saw us working on it (ages 5 and 7) and joined in. Everyone loved it! The planets are vibrantly colored and even have some golden shimmer to them, which was really fun. For my 2 kids, having 8 planets was a perfect number to split. The tools included were sufficient initially, but later we did break out some small hammers to help the process move along and to make sure no gems were missing. Great value that the planets had more than one gem, and my girls enjoyed identifying and learning about them. This is a MESSY experience, so plan for a space that can be easily cleaned as the dust got everywhere (see the pic for our porch after it was all done.) Really fun, and a great value! This would make a great gift for any elementary student!
