Never even worked. My son couldn’t wait to play with it and the vacuum never worked.

My kids don’t like touching bugs and are sometimes afraid of them. This is an excellent way to get them to see that most are harmless and don’t want to hurt my kids. They can suck up the bugs without having to touch them. Then they can transfer the insects to the cage so they can see them better. I only thing I didn’t like was the picture on the listing page showed batteries, but mine didn’t come with the batteries.
Exploring the world of bugs, this will do.

This set was kind of neat. The vacuum gun works well and my son loved it. He wanted to try to catch some small lizards as well, but it was kind of difficult considering how fast they are. The only minor complaint we had is the container top doesn't stay on very well. A nice gift for kids who like bugs though..

The insect holder was great for creating a habit for bugs and was great quality and durable. The motor on the bug vacuum is was broken when it arrived and was made of a less quality material that looked cheap and flimsy compared to the insect habitat.

This is a fun box for curious and adventurous kids! You have to provide batteries for the bug vac, it doesn’t feel like it has a strong suction but it actually works on lightweight insects. So far we’ve sucked up flies, lady bugs & ants. The critter barn is super cute. The light and magnifying glass makes it practical. My four children range from 5-12 and everyone has enjoyed playing with it outside in the yard/garden since we’ve had it. Comes with a cute little activity book too with a checklist of bugs to discover. Definitely recommend!

Too cold to utilize the outdoor kit. Unfortunately in my area it has reached 40 to 50 degrees at night. I was able to catch a few mosquitoes by placing the box outside but nothing more. I will have try the box again with my kids in the summer time when it heats back up. Everything else about this box is great if your kids are into small science projects. 5-8 year age appropriate.

If you have an outdoorsy toddler/kiddo this is is definitely going to be a hit. The bug container has a light they can use and it also has a magnifying glass hole at the top of the container. The bug vacuum is easy to put together and does take 4 AA batteries. My kid has had a blast running around the house trying to suck up a pesky fly that’s been in our house.

Our kids loves the outside and when they are outside they love flipping over old wood, rocks, mulch and whatever else a bug might stay under. This was the perfect gift for them. Just point click and in goes the bug! After that your able to put the bugs that you collected into the little bug housing to show off your collection of bug hunting!
Could use more power but good overall

Cute kit, love the idea of the bug gun, but the power is only strong enough for small bugs like lady bug sized. That would be my one change. Otherwise the kids love it, it's constantly getting filled by more creepy crawlies everytime they are outside. RIP to the ones we forgot to release. They love using the attached magnifying glass too

This toy actually very kid friendly. Extremely easy to put together. It does have a light and the vacuum does suck up small little animals like ants. The container to hold the little animal does luck extremely well so there's no chance of escape happening. Everything is included in one kit which makes it even better. My children loved playing with it gave him hours of fun and hunting for ants and other bugs.

I gave this to my nephew and he loved his back yard adventures now. He thinks he's a powerful explorer and I'm very happy to see him enjoy and learn about bugs and insects. This kit comes with a lot to get started. The gun runs off of the included batteries and has great suction that captures bugs without harming them. The built in magnifier is great for examining. You can also easily transfer to the habitat case without ever having to touch the bugs.
The kids love it!!

Found a stink bug in the window so it was the perfect time for the kids to study him without squashing him. The kit comes with a bug vacuum that you'll need batteries for. It also comes with a light to see built into the hood.

It's a nice tool to encourage kids to get outside and explore. The vacuum is just the right pressure to suck a bug into the canister without harming it. My problem is the magnifying area is hard to see the insect inside. The included batteries are always appreciated. My son will play with it from time to time.
Perfect toy for little adventurers and nature-loving kids!

This is such a cute little kit for kids! We have a “capture and release” rule with this toy and my son loves it! He loves to pick up the little critters with the big vacuum and put them in the container. He watches them in their “habitat” for a few minutes and we let them go. He can do this all day long! Genius product!

This a great toy to explore the outdoors. My kids loved looking for bugs and worms in the backyard. They vacummed up some dirt, twigs and bugs. The little box co tained the bugs and made viewings easy. I really thought this was a great toy and my kids liked it.

My kids LOVE this bug catcher! It's so easy for kids to use and provides hours of entertainment. I took off one star because I wish the suck was stronger. It is okay catching smaller bugs, but it would be difficult to catch larger ones. This bug catcher has been a big hit with all three of my kids from ages 3-8.

This set has been the biggest hit in our household! I have a 7 year old daughter that loves everything about all bugs haha, so this was super intriguing to her. Normally she catches them and brings them in to look at under her microscope, but love the vacuum feature on this set that makes it super easy to catch the bugs, the magnifying glass to examine them with, and then the ability to let them back out into the wild lol. Love!

The case is great. The flashlight / bug catcher broke within 30 minutes. I think bits of dirt might have gotten in it . I don’t see anything clogging it.It still makes noises but doesn’t suck up the bugs and more like blows air very gently, but the kids still like trying to catch bugs with it and putting the bugs container watching them.

This set is actually a really cool bug catching set. The vacuum gun has mild suction that my boys 2 and 3 1/2 pick up mostly ants and small pebbles from our back porch. Both the container and the Bug Gun have small magnification lenses to see the things you’ve collected more closely. There is a built in light in the container along with air-holes for a “humane” experience.
Actually really fun!

I was pleasantly surprised to find this toy to be something my kids actually enjoy playing with outdoors. Usually, they’ll prefer something sports-related or just good ol fashioned running, but my 5 and 2 year old really put this bug hunter set to good use! First, it’s pretty straight-forward for the kids to understand the concept of each piece, so it is not confusing or overwhelming at all. The box has built in magnifying lenses so the child can look at the bugs up close. My kids use it for not only bugs but also leaves especially now with all the leaves changing colors. And the bug zapper requires batteries but it’s very fun for the kids. It does exactly what the name says- zaps bugs. So it may be great for little ones who are still creeped out by bugs. It engages my kids for a good 40mins and the best part is that it encourages them to keep searching for different things outside to study and observe on their own. I truly love the scientific aspect of the play this set helps to create. I’m definitely going to get another set if my kids ever end up breaking the box. Would highly recommend as a gift for a birthday party!
