Excellent console; a huge technical leap up from the switch 1, although we have yet to see its full capabilities (hoping for a more graphically advanced Zelda, etc.) for now, it runs many games noticeably better, and the $10 upgrades are (to me) transformational, especially with Tears of the Kingdom & BOTW. Arrived slightly later than launch but received a nice complimentary gift from Target to make up for it, which was very nice. Arrived in perfect condition although manufacturers could’ve done more on packaging… all good though.

Target is the worst of the retailers

Dissapointed Customer - 2 days ago, Verified purchaser
I must say i absolutely love my switch 2, but I wish I wouldve ordered it from any other retailer. While everyone I know was able to get their preorder delivered on release day, Target didnt even bother shipping it until that day. So i was sitting at home after taking time off from work with no switch 2 for the day while everyone else ordering from competitors were enjoying the system for over a day. Target know what a big release this was and even advertised for it instores, but preording months in advanced didnt result in getting the system that day. Lesson learned, will be giving my business to competitors for all things games related moving forward

Console works great, exactly what I wanted. The issue comes with Target's shipping, the item was pre ordered Apr 23rd, giving plenty of notice to allow for timely delivery. However, the package was delayed and eventually came the following Saturday, when I was not home to recieve the package. I spoke with support, and they indicated that compensation was for customers who got their delivery on 6/8 or later, meaning I had missed the window by one day, and support told me that the switch 2 released on the 6th when https://corporate.target.com/news-features/article/2025/05/nintendo-switch-2 shows it was released on 6/5 so it would never had gotten here on the 5th. Not willing to use Target for future preorders based on this experience.

Bigger and Better, but also More of the Same

I had high expectations with the first Switch and was ultimately extremely disappointed. I loved how it was a console/handheld hybrid and how everything slid and clicked together, but it was extremely underpowered. Some third parties didn't even bother to put their games on it because of this. Those that did, were forced to put out inferior ports as compared to the Xbox and PlayStation versions. Essentially, the Switch 1 was just a first party machine that was best when playing the games that Nintendo specifically developed for it. I had much lower expectations with the Switch 2, which is probably why I'm enjoying it more than the first one. This is just a bigger Switch with one or two new features (mouse controls and GameChat) and better graphical and processing power. Although I'm enjoying it more, buyers should be aware that the history of the first Switch will repeat itself here. The Switch 2 is already underpowered as compared to the Xbox Series X and original PS5 (these consoles are almost 5 years old!). Although games from years past are being ported to the Switch 2 with decent results, the next generation is on the horizon and it's hard to believe that games developed for the PC, PS6, and next Xbox are going to run on this thing. With that said, if you're fine just playing primarily Nintendo-developed games, this is the device for you.

Switch Pro: Too pricey, poor lineup, sad era for gaming continues

Oz - 2 days ago, Verified purchaser
I ended up selling this once the FOMO left my being. This console is far too pricey for basically being a Switch Pro, and by the gods would it have hurt them to change the simplistic Switch UI at all??? It does run Switch games with brute forced graphics to make them better. The majority of they abysmal initial game lineup are all games I have on different consoles. The materials are basic, glass is hard plastic, composition makes it very hard to repair (battery pack with 2 hour charge). The card reader can brick console or have account banned if there is a voltage difference for whatever reason. Any modding of your $500 console will also allow Nintendo to brick your system. We basically do not own our systems. I forgot to mention the "C" button can only be used with a paid online subscription, otherwise it's a waste of space. There's also the $70-$80 games, and the $10 we have to pay for "upgrade" to play enhanced versions of Switch 1 games we already own, where some platforms (or devs) like PlayStation and Steam offer it for free. I will not be purchasing a Switch 2 until either there is a price drop, better components made in a "ver. 2.0". I will also likely be purchasing the games used since I cannot justify purchasing $70 or $80 games. Doing so would feed into the greed of gaming companies and make these prices the standard, across the board, going forward.

Nintendo delivers again! Have been enjoying the new Switch 2 since release day and am nearly finished 100%ing Super Mario Kart World (the best in the franchise) since playing it everyday. 4K HDR is beautiful! All the upgrades over the Switch 1 are excellent. Cannot wait to play Bananza!

The insanity of charging $80 or the “generous” $50 for a game that is going to be milked for years with DLCs and who knows what. The system is fine but they haven’t fixed the drift issue. I hardly used the console but it’s already showing sign of problems to come, mainly with the left controller. And guess what, they’ve increased the cost of controllers too, lol. If not for the exclusives like Mario, Zelda, this system would have failed but they know that people will buy it.

I had zero plans to buy a Switch 2. I went in for freshpet dog food and walked by the electronics and launch day. There was no line. No ruckus. Yet, they had a small stack of them. I walked out with this bundle and I'm glad I did. The only thing I'm missing from the old Switch is the OLED but everything else is blowing me away. It's an iterative design rather than revolutionary but Nintendo rarely misses. The one regret is lack of games I haven't already played on other consoles. However, when you get to play BotW and TotK as they were meant to. In full glory and no noticeable slowdown, you know you made the right choice. Mario Kart World is neat too. I'm having a blast with this little machine. That's coming from a middle-aged man that has nearly every system and PC configuration available. Buy one if you were on the fence. It's a portable marvel.
