Contains Permethrin, which IS and insecticide. The description of this is not correct. Works well though, no live lice at first application. Was able to use only one kit for two 5 year old girls with shoulder length hair.

Shampoo left scalp burning. Nit comb pulled hair off my head. See pic. Will be getting a script for Ivermectin.

Live live die right away- it does NOT kill nits!
I gave it 4 stars because it does work great on the live lice, but NOT on nits so do yourself a favor and buy 2 of these at once to reapply 7-9 days after. Yes, it will leave the hair very greasy, even after washing a million times, but the greasiness goes away within 24-48 hours after washing again, which to me is worth it because it works! Again, it does not kill the nits like advertised so you would have to do it again like other products.

So greasy, get Nix shampoo instead
First time kids (2/3) came home with lice, and this does work well. The comb doesn’t work to get rid of the nits. I hand picked those out with my fingernails, which is awful tedious, but is most effective. Thankfully, there weren’t many to begin with, but I will agree that this version (solution) is soooo awful to get out of hair. I preemptively treated myself with this one cause I’m paranoid, and I regret it. I’ve washed my hair at least 6 different times and my hair still looked wet after the last go around hours later. Tried dawn this last time and am hoping that will do the trick. I used the SHAMPOO (green) version from Nix on my kids and their hair was not this greasy.

Chemical burn
It gets 2 stars because it works. But it chemical burned me and my kid. Per the professional lice person told me that dimethicone is all you need to kill them so there has to be an additive in this that burned us.

Oily mess and rash
Found a nit in my daughters hair so used this. I’ve washed her hair 5 times once with dawn soap and just now with a clarifying shampoo.. I can’t get the product out of her hair it’s an oily mess. It also caused a rash on both my daughter’s neck. I applied a small amount on my other daughter as a safety precaution and all it did was cause an itchy rash. Just find something else

Shiniest Hair Ever
I’m giving it 4 stars because even though I had to wash my waist length hair with dawn dish soap no less than 16 times, even though it says shampoo will rinse it out, and then with a Malibu hard water treatment to eliminate the rest of the residue, my hair has never been shinier or softer. The waves look flawless. 5 stars for shiny healthy hair 0 stars for how much work it took tbd if it works as a lice treatment. I don’t even know if I had lice, it was preventative since my son had them and I wanted to take no chances. Now I might use it every now and again for the shine.

Disgustingly oily = more stress
This new formula is disgusting. I washed my son’s hair 4 times & it’s still oily. I shampooed my hair 5 times & still very oily. It leaves an oily film all over our bodies & tub. Very frustrating.

Panic mode!
Works great! About 5 minutes after putting it in my daughter’s hair, the lice were just falling off! Yes, it does leave a greasy film on the hair. I used a bit of dawn to clean my daughter’s hair. But by the 2nd day it was all gone. Even if it wasn’t, it’s definitely worth having greasy hair for a few days as long as all the lice were GONE. Which they were!

I'm writing my first target review ever just to say GET THIS STUFF, IT WORKS (scroll down for de-greasing instructions!). We used the regular chemical shampoo first and then this product, and Nix Ultra worked SO WELL. Much better than the shampoo, especially with very thick hair. The harsh shampoo caused itching and burning on my daughter's scalp, and it didn't kill everything. Then I bought Nix Ultra and totally saturated their hair and scalp, and every thing came out DEAD. I also used this on my own hair, which is very thick and very long, and it worked perfectly. Yes, it's greasy. When you first wash it out, shampoo like 3 times. Later, once you've combed out all the dead nits and bugs and you're out of the emergency phase, get back in the shower and put a buttload of conditioner in your/their hair. Rinse after a few minutes. Then lots of shampoo, again leaving on a few minutes. It works!!

It works
After trying another kit by nix and it not working, we thought we’d try this. It did the job and the comb was better. The only thing is, that it leaves an oily film on the hair and I believe it is oily because it suffocates the lice. I left it oily over night and then used dawn dish soap to remove the oily film and then re-washed with regular shampoo. Con- I wish it came with more product for long, thick hair.

Worked, but gross film
This product worked, but I really disliked how runny is was. Very difficult to keep from running down face of children even with towel over their eyes. It also left a nasty greasy film on their hair that took three washes to get out. I used a different Nix kit for myself and a couple other family members (due to availability) and it was much easier to use and there was more product for multiple people for about the same price. This product did work, but I don’t think I would use it again based on the consistency.

It works. However, 8 washes and a ton of dry shampoo to get it out!!!
It does work. However, good luck getting the oil out of your hair. After 6 washes, it was still oily! So I sprayed a ton of dry shampoo in my hair before bed. The next morning, I washed my hair two more times. It was finally gone!

There’s so many kids in school you never know who your kids hanging out with or what they have in their hair it’s always good to have it as a back up and to be prepared

Bought it twice doesnt work!
Nix products are made for you to continue to buy it. They comb they provide does not work THEY ARE TRASH! don’t waste your money! The only thing that got the lice out of my hair and my daughters hair was a professional who came to our home and dehydrated the lice, eggs, & even the invisible ones!! Then she proceeded to combing them out with a good comb

deal with the greasyness!!
Yes, this product does leave your hair veryyy greasy, but that makes it soo much easier to comb through the hair. It was easy to apply, didn’t burn, didn’t have any strong chemical odors, and it was very effective! Everything we pulled from the hair was dead. 10/10 product!

DO greasy!
Ok clearly all the people that wrote promotional reviews didn’t actually try this product. I’m sure it works fine but it leaves the hair SO greasy. I’ve used half a bottle of shampoo on my daughter’s hair and it’s still greasy, filmy, stringy. It’s bad enough to have to wash everything in the house and go through the time consuming process of combing out the hair over and over again but having to wash and rewash and rewash the hair seems like it’s just adding insult to injury. Try a different product.
