A: Yes. The plastic does touch the food. That said, OmieBox is BPA free and meets all FDA and CPSIA safety requirements. Most importantly, our own kids use them every day!

Q: Is there an integrated cold pack? I don’t understand how it keeps the thermos warm and the rest cold without a cold pack?

A: The plastic that makes up the box is double layered providing insulation to keep cold items cool. However, it is not a bad idea to add a reusable ice stick or two the the sides. For anything that truly needs to stay cold for several hours - like yogurt - the best place is the thermos. Thanks for asking!

We’ve been using this for about a month and it’s my son’s favorite lunch box he’s had, he requests meals in it even at home, so needless to say, it’s a hit. He loves carrying it around holding the handle rather than putting it in his bookbag.

I bought this for my 2.9 years old for her preschool. The lunchbox is great but the only problem is size and weight. Little large and heavy for preschooler. Also, most small backpacks fits it but NOT all. In some mini backpacks after putting lunchbox it doesn’t leave any space for water bottle or anything else. I didn’t return it because eventually I will need it but for few months we will be using spare small lunch box. Just clarifying that the thermos size quantity wise is good it’s just the large square box design and its weight is little more for little ones to handle.

Great product! I’ve used it since my kids were 4. We put hot food items in it which gives the kiddos more options for lunch. I’ve had lunch start at 10-12:30pm with no mentioning of food temps. The size and compartments are good enough for give them a few options.

The box is really good for my toddler who is 4. I really enjoy that I’m able to adjust the divider and that everything is easily and quickly accessible to my toddler. 4 star because it’s not dishwasher safe and I hate handwashing it.

Hands down my favorite kids lunchbox. It is insanely versatile, easy to clean and so kid friendly for little hands. My daughter got her first one at 2yrs and it was very easy for her to use (several other kids wound up getting the same one as a result). She’s 6 now and we’re still using the Omie Box products- got the pixi pink one this year and it’s SUPER cute! AND!! You can get replacement pieces easily without having to replace the whole thing. It’s great all the way around.

I have had an OmieBox for a year and the shell got water in it. There isn’t a way to get the water out and I have never put it in a dishwasher only been hand washed and Omie will not replace the shell despite that being feedback from several people owning Omie. Don’t buy if you want it to last more than a year.

We’re so sorry you experienced this — that’s definitely not the durability we want for OmieBox. 💛 Our warranty covers products for one year with proof of purchase, but since your box is just past that window we’re unfortunately not able to replace the shell. Replacement shells are available on our website so you can continue using your box, and we’ll also pass along your feedback to our design team.

The thermos cap is really hard to open and my kids have struggled with it at linch time multiple times. The inside sections of the box do not detach so washing it isn’t that convienient.Not dishwasher safe either. It would make it easier to wash by hand if they came out as separate items to wash better. And I wish there was a section or way to keep cold items cold with an ice pack but there is no option for that.

Clever product, but unfortunately the thermos did not keep hot water warm for even 2 hours. The compartments are also quite deep, which might work for some foods, but delicate items like kiwi would get mashed.

Such a great lunchbox! My daughter is very picky and this lunchbox allows me to pack soup, or eggs, or all the other non-sandwich stuff she likes. The best part if she does feel like the occasional sandwich in her lunch, you can remove the thermos part and put a sandwich in! It really is a great lunchbox.
