Leah Beautiful Board Book - We have loved every book in the Baby Believer series and this one is no different! The simple yet beautiful illustrations are perfect, and I love the connection to Scripture on every page. While I primarily love this for my toddler and 3-year-old, my older children have enjoyed it as well! They love guessing what each shape will represent and making the connection to Scripture. I also love that this book is incredibly sturdy since my toddler loves to carry his book all over the house and turn the pages. We love beautiful, living books that teach big truths about God, so I am so glad we have this one on our bookshelves!

guest review A Beautiful Way to Show God to Toddlers - I dearly love Our God: A Shapes Primer by Danielle Hitchens. I first discovered the Baby Believer series from Catechesis Books when my daughter was born. I wanted an age-appropriate way to introduce her to the rich beauty and grace of the Christian faith, and these books more than met my expectations. My four favorite things about Baby Believer books are: 1) Use of actual scripture passages that my little one can grow familiar with, 2) Beautiful and engaging artwork, 3) Durable and sturdy materials that hold up to toddler antics, and 4) A core message of God’ love for the world. Our God is no exception to these values! Teaching young children about who God is can be challenging and abstract for little concrete thinkers. This book gives concrete illustrations of who God is, using a bedrock topic of early childhood learning - shapes! Each shape is matched to a familiar object and a verse that gives insight into who God is. My favorite is the oval, paired with a warm loaf of bread, and John 6:35, where Jesus tells his disciples, “ I am the bread of life.” My daughter asks for this book to be read to her again and again. She loves being able to name the shape and the object in the picture, and she is already able to “fill in the blanks” when I pause while reading the verses to her. I love watching her enjoy the Word of God and begin to understand who He is through this book. I can’t wait until the next one!

Brianna Cunningham Love this book!! - Well, she’s done it again folks! Danielle Hitchen has absolutely nailed it with this gorgeous shapes primer! The artwork is stunning and works seamlessly with the correlated verses. My boys love naming the shapes as we go through the book and I love being able to weave Scripture into even the smallest lessons like learning shapes! It’s a perfect reminder that everything we learn about can point us to God and His word. One of my favorite parts is the prayer at the end that pulls everything together, asking that we may be *shaped* by His spirit. This book goes along beautifully with all of her other books which is just aesthetically pleasing on my bookshelf! I highly recommend this and any of her other books!! Definitely add this to your Christmas gift list this year! You won’t regret it!

Review Quotes

"Catechesis begins very early in life. The hearts and minds of our kids are being shaped by the media, models, and voices around them--for better or worse. Christian parents should try to surround their kids with resources for healthy spiritual formation. That's why I love the Baby Believer(R) series from Catechesis Books. It's never too early to teach theology to little ones!"
--Brett McCracken, senior editor at The Gospel Coalition, author of The Wisdom Pyramid: Feeding Your Soul in a Post-Truth World

"I'm a huge (full-grown) believer in the Baby Believer series. We know the Word of God does not return void. These books provide a wise, winsome, and creative way to begin sowing the seeds of biblical truth into the hearts and souls of our children. When the core concepts of the Christian proclamation are sown into us from an early age, those seeds will bear their fruit in the right season."
--Timothy Dalrymple, president and CEO of Christianity Today

"The Baby Believer series offers big theological truths to little hearts in a beautiful and simple way. They make great gifts for new moms!"
--Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler, cofounders of Risen Motherhood
