Baby Believer(R) primers are designed to grow with children, from early infancy through elementary school. In addition to basic Bible theology, Baby Believer(R) board books are filled with quotations from the Bible, creeds, hymns, church fathers, and other articles of faith to help reinforce the content and provide intellectual handholds for older children who possess a greater capacity for learning and memorization.

Review Quotes

"Catechesis begins very early in life. The hearts and minds of our kids are being shaped by the media, models, and voices around them--for better or worse. Christian parents should try to surround their kids with resources for healthy spiritual formation. That's why I love the Baby Believer(R) series from Catechesis Books. It's never too early to teach theology to little ones!"
--Brett McCracken, senior editor at The Gospel Coalition, author of The Wisdom Pyramid: Feeding Your Soul in a Post-Truth World

"I'm a huge (full-grown) believer in the Baby Believer series. We know the Word of God does not return void. These books provide a wise, winsome, and creative way to begin sowing the seeds of biblical truth into the hearts and souls of our children. When the core concepts of the Christian proclamation are sown into us from an early age, those seeds will bear their fruit in the right season."
--Timothy Dalrymple, president and CEO of Christianity Today

"The Baby Believer series offers big theological truths to little hearts in a beautiful and simple way. They make great gifts for new moms!"
--Emily Jensen and Laura Wifler, cofounders of Risen Motherhood

Love the colors and pictures as I read this psalm to my daughter. Hopeful that she will have the whole psalm memorized by a young age with pictures to help her memory and understanding of the truths contained there! Hiding God’s Word in her heart from a young age!

A Lovely Way to Imprint Psalm 23 on Minds & Hearts

5 out of 5 stars
Elzbthchrstne - 3 years ago
Our family LOVES Psalm 23!! With every new baby believer book that comes out, I always think it my favorite. Who would have thought that the themes of Psalm 23 perfectly accords with so many colors? Our family has already put this psalm to memory, but it is a fact that people who visualize something in their mind’s eye have an easier time memorizing that thing. So, I love that my kids now have a visual picture of every verse of the psalm to aid their memories throughout their lives. As a homeschooling family, we don't have room for just any book. This one is worthy of being in our library. Thank you, Danielle, for another beautiful, rich, memory-making book!

I had already been teaching my 3 year old Psalm 23. This is a beautiful addition to our book collection and so well done. Each spread is so perfect with the choice of color for verse/phrase of the Psalm. Our entire family loves the Baby Believer books and I preorder as soon as another is available. I love that you can teach colors and that it is simply just the text of the Psalm. A keepsake for sure but it will also get used a lot.

Another Treasured Edition of the Baby Believers Series

Psalm 23: A Colors Primer has quickly become another treasured edition of the Baby Believers Series in our home! Psalm 23 is beautifully woven throughout each page together with visually rich and engaging illustrations to introduce little ones to each color. Our oldest daughter (who has enjoyed Baby Believers since they were first published!) and I both audibly gasped as we looked through each stunning page of this board book. Reading it is both a feast for the eyes and a balm for the heart, with every illustration so perfectly matching each comforting verse from one of the most familiar passages of Scripture. This book will be thoroughly enjoyed in our home for years to come and will be the perfect resource to help our little ones memorize this scripture. It will be a beloved addition to any family library!

WOW. If you are looking for a captivating way to read Scripture with little ones, this is the book. It is visually stunning and Biblically sound. Each spread beautifully depicts the poetry of Psalm 23, while helping your little one create associations for each color. My 4 month old loves looking at the vibrant pictures, and I look forward to the day we can use this book as an aid for Scripture memorization! We love all our Baby Believer books, and how each one explores different Biblical themes, but this one is our new favorite so far! We can’t wait to see what else Danielle and Jessica create for our little disciples. 💛

Amazing biblical book for ALL kids

Amazing biblical book for kids of all ages! Finding good, biblical books for kids these days is difficult, and only getting harder. Our family loves all of the Baby Believer books and we are SO thrilled to be adding another one to our collection. This Psalm 23 book is another amazing book to add to our book shelf. The colors are incredibly vibrant and really engaging to our children. The illustrations are unique to each page, some being fairly simple, where others are much more intricate. With our older kids we have them search for specific objects on the pages where there are many things. We love how the book is literally just only scripture, no added words or thoughts at all. We like reading directly from the Bible to our kids, but at a young age it’s obviously difficult. This Psalm 23 book is the perfect balance. We can read strictly scripture but keep our kids engaged because of the bright colors and fun artwork. Can’t wait until our whole family has Psalm 23 memorized because we read this book so frequently! This is such a great book to give as a Christmas gift, birthday gift, or shower gift!

As a Christian parent in the current climate of the world, I am always looking for sound theology and biblical truth to be what enters my home. I have a few of the other books from the Baby Believer Primer series and honestly, this one might be my personal favorite so far! I absolutely love that it is just a board book version of Psalm 23. You wont find any extra language or anything floofed up just because it is meant for young ones. It is just scripture. Of course, as a colors primer, it has beautiful, colorful artwork that floods each page and correlates beautifully with each section of the Psalm. I am currently teaching my two year old her colors and I love that there is no confusion as to what color we’re looking at because each page is only filled with one color in different shades. I also love that this is not a book that will be outgrown once she knows her colors. My seven year old can use this book to memorize Psalm 23! My five year old twins are learning to read and the font that is used in this book is large, bold, and clear and I am excited for them to be able to sit down and read through it on their own. Another thing to note, that I find important, is that there are no 2CV. On the first page, there is a shepherd holding a lamb but I do not think it is meant to be an image of God. I know that this is not a conviction that all hold, but I am always saddened to buy a book online and then find an image of Jesus smack in the middle of it. If you and your family hold to the 2CV, this book will do well on your shelf! I am excited to be able to gift this book to pregnant mothers in my church and also to recommend it to anyone that is wondering!

Psalm 23 has always held a special place in my heart! Not for any specific reason, just that it has always brought me comfort and strength and brought me peace in the best and worst of times. I always wanted this to my childrens’ first memorized passage. For years (literally) I have been looking for the perfect age-appropriate book featuring this psalm. This Colors Primer not only is stunningly illustrated but has the exact words of the chapter so my girls can easily memorize it. The colors are stunning and can help bringing together farmiliar with a beautiful passage of scripture! We will be reading this time and time again! My girls already adore this book!

This series has been such a blessing to our family! The way the authors teach primers from the perspective of the gospel has been so helpful in teaching my children to have God's word hidden in their hearts. I love how these books are even helpful for older kids, too! My ten year old can read them to his sisters and practice scripture memory from them as well. Lastly, they are beautiful books that make any playroom or school room inviting! They make a beautiful statement when not in use and my kids love the bright colors and pretty pictures. I’m so thankful for the Baby Believer series and the tool they have been for Christian mamas like myself!

God's Word is for Little Ones

Psalm 23: A Colors Primer instantly became my favorite Baby Believer book. In my opinion, the very best thing about it is that, besides the colors, the text is nothing more and nothing less than all of Psalm 23 (ESV), word-for-word. I have always appreciated that this book series features actual scripture verses. It’s so important to me to share God’s Word with my children, and give them access to hear, memorize, and understand it for themselves. This book not only supports that value, but goes above and beyond in presenting scripture to children through the board-book format, beautiful and bright illustrations, and easily digestible passages on each page. The illustrations are rich, engaging visuals that beautifully carry the “color” theme while also providing concrete connections to the poetry of the text. This book has sparked so many rich conversations with my 3 year old daughter. What “green pastures” does God lead us in? How does God comfort us? What does “runs over” mean? I am forever grateful for this beautiful means of helping my children grow in their faith and knowledge of God and His love for them.

Psalm 23: a Colors Primer recounts one of the most beloved psalms in the christian tradition in a beautiful, hardcover board book perfect for babies and children. I absolutely love the way Danielle Hitchen pulled colors out of the biblical text to help teach little ones this scripture passage as well as colors. Jessica Blanchard once again creates stunning artwork - this time with each spread featuring a monochromatic design to teach the given color. This is a wonderful tool to have on hand to help teach your little one colors as well as Psalm 23. I'm so glad to have this one on our shelf!

Our kids have really enjoyed the Baby Believer series, so I was excited to get the newest one. It is already one of my favorites to read to the kids. The book does a great job of teaching colors using the 23rd Psalm. When I read it to the kids, my 2-year-old is learning colors while my older children are learning Scripture. Like the other books in the series, the illustrations are fun and well-done.

One of the most popular and beautiful Psalms there is and Danielle takes it and turns it into a gorgeous primer book for little ones. I was able to receive an advance copy of this book and I could not wait for it to arrive in the mail. This book is absolutely perfect, like all the others that are a part of the Baby Primer series. The colors are rich and deep, the illustrations captivate your eyes and make them flow. The words breathing life and truth into you and your little ones. It is a perfect story for young kids, not just infants and babies to help them learn Psalm 23 and memorize to their heart. The Baby Believers team does a remarkable job every time to know what each and every page should convey to their audience. I recommended this book and all the others of this series. They make the best gifts and the best story times spent with my kids and I know they will with other families too.

Psalm 23: A Colors Primer is released and it’s so beautiful! 🤎❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤍 Danielle and Jessica prove once again that you can take a primer topic, in this case colors, and teach it to your children from a gospel-centered perspective. This is one of the things I love best about the Baby Believer series. It teaches from a Biblical worldview and covers various primers like numbers, letters, emotions, etc. I am passionate about sharing the gospel with my children in as many ways as possible and am grateful for resources like these books to support that. Psalm 23 holds a very special place in my heart since it is the passage I read to my dad in the hospital the night before he died when I shared the gospel with him. While my children, ages 5 and 7, know their colors, I plan to use this book to have them memorize Psalm 23 at the start of 2023. They’re currently working through memorizing a verse for each letter of the alphabet and I’m so excited to work with them on longer passages next year! As with all Baby Believer books, the illustrations are stunning and the pages are full of actual Scripture. There’s nothing dumbed-down or cartoonish about these books; another favorite thing about them! My children see me with my baskets and shelves full of favorite books, specially theology books, and it is my joy and privilege to fill baskets and shelves of theology books for them. Books that they can hold in their hands, carry in the backpacks, and read in the car or tucked in their beds. Encouraging them to grow in the knowledge and grace of God and having them understand that our love of God and study of His Word isn’t limited to adults or constrained to Sunday mornings. So thankful for this book and the entire series! Get a copy for your kids today - you won’t regret it!

We own all of the Catechesis Books, so naturally, owning this one was a must. Per usual, it is beautifully written with gorgeous, colorful images & easy to understand language/words. Catechism is such a fantastic way to teach children about the truth of God, the Bible & the Gospel, which is one reason why I love theses books. They help to bring the conversation & truth of the Bible & the Gospel to babies & young children in a way that is engaging & easy to understand! The Psalm 23 book goes through all of the colors of the rainbow and includes brown, black, white & grey. The author paired the colors perfectly with different phrases in Psalm 23, which makes it easier to connect with the phrase & picture. Psalm 23 is such a memorable chapter of the Bible, so I think it is perfect the authors chose it over other Psalms. When we first got the book in the mail, my oldest (7) had just started to want to read to her younger siblings, so seeing her grab the book & instantly start reading to them was just amazing!! I loved that they could read through truths of the Bible, or in this instance an actual chapter in the Bible, together while also walking through learning colors. If you need a book gift for a baby shower, a gift for a birthday party or special occasion or you just would like to add another tool to your toolbox for teaching your kids about the truth of Christ, THIS is your book...along with every other book in the Catechesis Books series :) I buy these books for every new mom & it looks like I have a new one to add to my list!

Psalms 23 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture and such a beautiful chapter for children to memorize. This book is a colors primer that is a great tools for not only helping them learn something education but also helping them grow spiritually and learn more about who God is. We have all of the book in the baby bible believer series by Danielle Hitchens and this one definitely is tied for my most favorite. The artwork is absolutely stunning, color tones are beautiful and visually engaging for little ones. I have always appreciated the quality of her books, they are a thick board book- perfect size for little hands. I want all my friends and family with children to have this book! It would make a perfect baby shower gift or Christmas/ birthday gift for little ones learning colors. This would be a great addition to your church library or nursery as well. All of her books are well loved in our house but this one is approved by my 5 & 3 year old and I'm sure our new baby on the way as well.

Whether you are a parent, auntie, uncle, nanny, or Sunday school volunteer, GET THIS BOOK! It is so amazing! I cannot recommend it enough. Children are such sponges, what better way to teach them things like colors than using the Bible to do so? The illustrations are beautiful and it is a great tool to start scripture memory with your child. I will be adding this book to my list of baby shower gift ideas for expecting mamas

We have been long time fans of the Baby Believer Primers and are always amazed every time a new book releases! Psalm 23 A Colors Primer couldn’t have come out at a more perfect time! I’m slowly teaching my 4 and 5 year old to memorize Psalm 23 and this book is super helpful. The colorful images and connection with color to verses is great for teaching children to write scripture on their hearts in a fun and engaging way. We will use this book for many years to come just as we have used the others. I also love the simplicity and sizing of the Baby Believer books as they last forever! This is definitely a timeless book that I will hold on to for my future grandchildren as well (thinking wayyyy ahead). I highly recommend this book to families wanting to introduce their children to a short, sweet but rich approach to scripture memorization.
