Forensic artist Jo Cattrel is in hiding ever since her mother was murdered. She brought herself out of hiding after receiving a message from her father. She witnesses a murder while on a ferry and then finds herself sinking, tied up in a car with the dead body. She knows this is her end until an unlikely rescuer appears in her ex, Cole Mercer. The search for the truth while staying a step or two ahead of a relentless killer makes for a heart-pounding, edge of your seat read. I was mesmerized the whole way through and had so many questions as more and more was discovered. The ending gave me a satisfying sigh and a five star rating. I received a complimentary copy of this novel from the publisher through the author but was not required to write a review.

Romantic suspense books can become very patterned and predictable. Elizabeth Goddard avoided that quite well when writing Perilous Tides with a quite unpredictable, original plot. Jo Cattrel has been hiding out in the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state for three years, ever since her mother's telling Jo to hide if anything ever happened to her, followed not long afterward by her murder. Having connected with her biological father following her mother's funeral, Jo had settled down into her new life, her real problem being the rejection by her almost boyfriend, well that and always feeling like she had to look over her shoulder. There is a reason for the saying about being paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't after you, and after her they are! Now Jo is ready to take a stand and hunt down the person who is hunting her. There will be a lot of pain along with the danger she will face while tracking down this threat. This intense story is filled with twists, turns, and dead ends. Sometimes it is difficult to discern whom should be trusted and whom should not. Throughout, the reader will be thoroughly enthralled. I highly recommend Perilous Tides and the Hidden Bay series of which it is the second book. I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. I received this book as an ARC with no expectations of a positive review. This is the best book Ms. Goddard has written by far. The twist and the tuns in this book just kept coming. Jo found her self in danger, but had no idea why. This is a wild roller coaster ride to the end. Anyone who loves suspense, mystery, intrigue and a bit of romance will love this book. I could not turn the pages fast enough.
The truth is out there.

You won’t see danger coming…until it’s too late. - Jo’s mom before she dies. Jo Cattrel, forensic artist, has spent the last 3 years trying to understand what her mother meant and how danger could possibly find her in Hidden Bay. But somehow it does! This story will have you at the edge of your seat, holding your breath and wondering if this mystery will ever be solved. The smallest details seem to have the biggest impact but explosions, attempted murder, unexpected swims in very cold water and more tend to leave a rather large impression as well. Everything has occurred for a reason but will that rationale finally be uncovered before someone dies? Jo knows that God is with her and her friends are there as well but will the past of her parents catch up with her present before this mystery is unraveled?
