Philips Avent Natural Response baby bottle nipple lets babies control the pace of the milk, like they do when breastfeeding. The nipple's unique opening and tip only release milk when your baby actively drinks. When pausing to swallow and breathe no milk flows. Baby can drink, swallow, and breathe using their natural rhythm.

We have moved to a pace-based flow navigation system. The Natural Response nipples come in flow rates 1-5, to keep up with your baby's development. Start with the nipple that comes with the bottle. Try a lower flow if milk is leaking from baby’s mouth or baby is gulping. Try a higher flow if baby is playing with the nipple instead of drinking or seems frustrated. I have the glass Philips Avent bottles and we love them. I exclusively pump so these are all my baby knows but he has never had a problem taking to them. We also never had any issues with gas using these. My only complaint is the hole on these are very small. We had the 0 month size on the bottles initially and it was taking my baby over an hour to finish a bottle and was falling asleep during every feeding. We tried sucking out the nipples ourselves and realized he was getting nothing out of them. Although these say 3+ months, we wound up using them when he was just a couple weeks old. These were much better for him but he quickly outgrew these and we had to move up to the next size before he was 3 months old. Overall these are very strong, they don’t get stretched out or break down and are very easy to clean

You need to line up the air hole with the circle on the inside of the white ring in order to get milk to come out at the appropriate speed. Everyone getting mad that these “don’t work” when in reality they don’t know how to read instructions. Albeit who would think that a baby bottle would need instructions but alas this one apparently does. Don’t call it quits on this bottle nipple Combo until you try this. You’re welcome.

I love that these don’t leak and I can just put the bottles in my bag without worrying. The nipples are great and if you’re baby has a good latch or has breastfed before they won’t have a problem this these. My baby was on flow 0+ until 6 months and is now on 3+ and is doing great. Good for babies with laryngomalacia too bc it’s not just dripping into their mouths. I love it and I know my baby does too

My baby is a month old bottle fed and she likes the Philips Avent bottles, she uses the old Avent natural and for some reason these new nipples don’t work for her, she sucks sucks and nothing comes out. We tried flow 2, 3 and 4. I’m done wasting my money on it!

Hi there, This is not the experience we wish you to have while feeding your baby. The Natural Response Nipple is different because it works like the breast, the flow is controlled by baby. Milk flow stops and starts based on your baby's drinking rhythm. For some babies it can take a few tries to get used to a nipple that doesn't always free-flow. If you have tried the same nipple a few times with little or no success, it may mean your baby needs a different nipple flow. Babies that have tried traditional baby bottle nipples, where the milk flows without pausing, might need a higher nipple flow with the Natural Response Nipple. Quality as expected, 5 week old likes these nipples. Lower nipple numbers made it really hard for her to drink any milk 😭 she was so fussy and frustrated before I knew she wasn’t getting anything with nipple 2 or 3. I even tried to suck out of them and that’s when i discovered the flow was almost impossible to drink from.

I preferred the old version of the design. The new design I couldn’t let a single drop out to test the temperature of the milk. I have been looking for the old version of the nipple everywhere but couldnt find it anymore.

Please note that the Natural Response Nipple releases milk only when the baby actively drinks. Babies can drink, swallow, and breathe using their natural rhythm, like on the breast. Making it easy to combine breast and bottle feeding. However, you might need a higher nipple flow if you see your baby struggling to get milk out or playing with the nipple. On the other hand, if you notice milk leaking from your baby’s mouth or fast gulps, it could be a sign they need a lower nipple flow. The Natural Response Nipple is available in nipple flows 1 to 5. We are in the process of changing all our natural nipples to the new natural response nipples, so we are no longer making the previous versions of the nipples. Know your flow and these will be perfect! There are many bad reviews on here saying the flow is too fast or too slow. It’s important to know what flow your baby is at during each stage. My baby did like these nipples and we changed flows accordingly

Absolutely NO FLOW in these newer nipples! I’ve used these for my older children, but the newer purchases have been a waste. We’ve tried the various flow levels and barely anything comes out. Just trying to get a few drops to test the milk temperature is difficult as an adult. Poor baby has been heavily sucking 20-30 and barely gets a half ounce out, just to fall asleep from exhaustion.

I have a almost 1 month old and purchased this 4 flow nipple because size 2&3 were still very slow flow and size 4 seemed to only be the one where my son would actually drink pretty good like the doctor brown size 1 but my son ended up hating the nipple so we switched back to avent

Impossible to get the milk out. Had to watch my baby struggle to feed for an hour. It’s completely false advertising. The 3 months and 0 month are the same flow. Waste of money.

Our new Natural Response Nipple lets your baby use their natural drinking rhythm, like they do when breastfeeding. The flow rate of milk they get from the nipple is linked to how enthusiastically or steadily they drink as they develop. Enthusiastic drinkers use strong suction and compression while drinking, resulting in greater milk flow, so they usually need a lower nipple flow from the Natural Response range (such as nipple number 1 or 2) to avoid overflow. Slow and steady drinkers are likely to prefer a higher nipple flow (such as nipple 4 or 5) to ensure enough milk flows, regardless of age. You can start with the nipple that comes with the bottle and adjust from there. If after a few feeding attempts you have no success, consider changing to a different nipple flow. You might need a higher flow if you see your baby struggling to get milk out or playing with the nipple. I love the concept for this bottle especially when I tried to breast-feed and I dried up. My baby was super colicky and thought this was the perfect option. I have tried three different nipple sizes at this point and can’t justify spending more money on some thing that she can’t get a single drop out of. I have tried feeding her for almost 30 minutes on every single size nickel and she has yet to get a single drop out of any of the feedings in these bottles. My baby is one month old and we have tried both one, two and three with no luck. The size guide is not that helpful. I’m really disappointed in this product especially when the other Phillips avent works way better.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 2 month old baby is just beginning to drink from a bottle so I was grateful to have received this nipple set from the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I liked that the nipple was wide and felt pretty natural. I have a fast flow when she's nursing, but she chokes frequently and while the flow of this Flow 4 nipple was to fast for her currently, it was great that this nipple has a no-drip tip so it doesn't drip or continue to flow into her mouth when she paused her sucking. I am excited to try this Flow 4 nipple again with her in the next few months!

I used these bottles and the natural nipples with my first two kids and they were amazing with no issues. Now I’m using them with my newborn and they suck. It takes him almost an hour to finish 2oz of milk. Most of the time he falls asleep because he’s exhausted from trying to get the milk out. Why would they update such an amazing product to this crap? Now I’m in search of nipples or bottles that work for my newborn so he doesn’t starve with these. Also, I purchased the 0m and the 1m+ and they both had the same issue. I’m highly disappointed.
