Description
Philips Avent Natural bottle with the Natural Response nipple lets baby control the pace of the milk, like they do when breastfeeding. The nipples' unique opening and tip only releases milk when your baby actively drinks. When pausing to swallow and breathe no milk flows. Baby can drink, swallow, and breathe using their natural rhythm, just like they do when breastfeeding. Easily combine breast and bottle feeding with a wide breast-shaped nipple with a soft feel that mimics the shape and feel of a breast; plus baby controlling the flow of milk like they do when breastfeeding. The nipple has a no-drip design which helps prevent lost milk from the tip. An anti-colic valve integrated into the nipple is designed to reduce colic and discomfort by sending air away from your baby's tummy. The ergonomic shape makes it comfortable for parents to hold and easy for small fingers to grasp. Assembly is simple with only a few parts and the wide bottle neck makes filling and cleaning easy. The Natural bottle is made from polypropylene, a BPA free material, and works with all nipples and caps from the Natural line. The Natural response nipples come in flow rates 1-5, to keep up with your baby's growth. Includes: 1 9oz Natural bottle with Natural Response nipple, flow 3. SCY903/91
What to expect when introducing the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple:
-It's totally natural for your baby to take 2-3 tries to get milk flowing from a new bottle. Unlike traditional bottles the Natural bottle is designed to only release milk when your baby is actively drinking, like what happens when babies breastfeed.
-We have 5 different nipple flow rates for the Natural bottle. When looking for the right nipple flow rate, age is a guide, but your baby's approach to drinking and the feeding cues they will show will help determine when to move to a higher or lower nipple flow rate.

Extremely finicky, do not buy

Nipples are extremely finicky and most of the time baby won't get any milk. Philips doesn't tell you how to properly assemble the bottles. You need to align the notch on the plastic ring with the notch on the silicone nipple. You also should have the nipple notch either up or down when feeding, not sideways (Philips doesn't give any instructions). Even doing so half of the time baby won't get anything. This morning my baby fed 1oz in 15 minutes with the size 2 nipple, which is the perfect rate for her. I stopped to burp her and after that she couldn't get any more milk for over 30 minutes (clearly not a problem with assembly, with nipple size, or with baby; just that the nipples are finicky). I tried 2 other Avent bottles and the same thing happened with all of them

Poor attachment between the bottle and the plastic nipple ring results in spillage

Hi there, Thank you for sharing your review, and we're sorry to hear that your Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Bottle is leaking. We would like to inform you that incorrect assembly causes leakage in 50% of cases. Please ensure that the nipple is properly inserted through the screw ring and securely tightened on the bottle without being overtightened. Wet glass bottles can be particularly difficult to close as they may slip. Therefore, it is best to dry the bottle before closing it. You may also find more information on how to prevent leakage by following this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjytab_9-hU. We hope this helps address the problem. If the problem persists, please reach out to us via social media. We are available on Facebook (@Philips) and X (@PhilipsCare). These new style nipples do NOT work! Ive had to use the same ones that i bought second hand because absolutely NOTHING comes out of the new batch ones! Its ridiculous that ive tried just about every number and its all the same results! Waste of money and effort! Sadly these are the only bottles my baby likes .. with the old nipples of course.

Hi Momejay, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. This is not the experience we wish your baby had with our Natural nipples. We would like to inform you that our Natural Response Nipple is available in nipple flows 1 to 5. Please be informed that it may take some time for your baby to adjust from a traditional nipple to a Natural Response Nipple. We would like to assist you further with your concern. Easy tearing though cleaning after one month

I am not sure how to avoid the tearing of the nipple hole. Three nipples total already got a crack when we only cleaned with our hands (pinkie finger). I kept thinking my baby doesn't want to drink only to find out the nipple was broken again. He was thirsty but got splattered with milk through the big opening. I am glad I noticed and had ordered spares. He finally drank after I switched the nipple to a new one! How can I avoid the tearing? I need to clean the inside of the tip since it gets oily!

These nipples encouraged biting, not good for moms trying to breastfeed and bottle feed. The nipple should be longer to get deeper into the baby's mouth. Also frustrating that these nipples aren't interchangeable with the plastic Avent bottles.

Hi Bexs, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about your experience with our Philips Avent Natural Response Baby Bottle. We want to assure you that our nipple is specifically designed to mimic the breast for seamless breast and bottle feeding transitions, reducing confusion for your baby. The unique design ensures milk is released only when your little one actively drinks, mirroring the natural breastfeeding process and minimizing spills. Regarding compatibility, both Natural and Natural Response bottles share the same screw ring, offering interchangeability between the two. Additionally, our products are compatible with Anti-colic bottles, screw rings, and nipples, providing flexibility in your feeding routine. Love the ease of cleaning and assembly. My baby has been exclusively breastfed from newborn until the 9 month mark. He has no issues getting milk, as it really is like a mother’s breast in the fact the milk will not flow without the sucking effort. Anyone having an issue with leaking it really sounds like user error. My suggestion for babies frustrated with the flow rate, maybe try sizing up. I’ve seen target sells nipples with a faster flow, you can just swap it out.

You have to close the bottle JUST right for it to seal. Otherwise you will find yourself changing your baby out of a milk soaked onesie in the middle of the night. We’ve had to make a habit of testing the leakage before each feed. User error perhaps, but it happens enough to warrant this review.

Easy to clean, but impossible to feed my baby with these. I tried this bottle multiple times and my son just wouldn't get any milk each time.

Hi there, Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble feeding your son with the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple. This is not the kind of experience we want you to have with our product. Please note that our new Natural Response Nipple lets your baby use their natural drinking rhythm, like they do when breastfeeding. While age is a guide, we recommend watching your little one’s cues to find the best nipple flow. We designed the nipple range to work for all different drinking patterns, from fast and enthusiastic to slow and steady. The Natural Response Nipple is available in nipple flows 1 to 5. The flow rate of milk they get from the nipple is linked to how enthusiastically or steadily they drink as they develop. Slow and steady drinkers are likely to prefer a higher nipple flow (such as nipple4 orr5), to ensure enough milk flows, regardless of age. We hope this is useful to you. If you have any further questions or the problem still persists, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We're available 24/7 on Facebook and X. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon! down hill terrible! used these nipples and bottles for multiple babies in the past few years, initially loved them!.. great that they are the most “compatible” with nursing, never any breast / bottle nipple confusion…BUT recently they redesigned their nipples so that milk is more difficult to actually come out.. which makes it very hard for a baby, especially a newborn!!! shame on philips avent for using a “new and improved” design for a marketing tactic versus embracing the actual needs of babies. also, their new numbering system is wack. it used to be normally numbered based on milk flow, but now my NEWBORN needs a milk flow numbered 3 + versus the slow flow which is what they should need IF these nipples weren’t so terrible. please save your babies the exhaustion of trying to drink milk, but it being too difficult for them! literally like sucking on a pacifier, but actually hungry and trying to get milk… it’s so sad and very frustrating. go with a different bottle and nipple combo. zero stars.

Hi there, Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Philips Avent Natural Response Nipple. This is not the kind of experience we want you to have with us. Please note that we’re always looking for new ways to make bottle-feeding more of a natural experience for you and your baby. From research, we know that milk releases from the breast when a baby applies suction and compression. This allows them to pause whenever they need it and use their natural drinking pattern. So, we made a nipple that works that way too, letting babies use their natural drinking rhythm when bottle feeding. Now all our natural bottles come with the Natural Response nipple to make it easy to combine breast and bottle feeding. Also note that if your baby is already used to the previous Natural Nipple or even another traditional bottle, they may need a higher nipple flow in the Natural Response Nipple because they are used to milk flowing quickly with less effort. Watch for your baby’s cues to check if you need to change the nipple, and let your baby be the guide. If you have any further questions or the problem still persists, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We're available 24/7 on Facebook and X. Alternatively, you can reach out to us via the contact page on our website. One of our colleagues will then try their best to help you further. Hope to speak to you soon! My baby is 3 months old and has been using these bottles since birth. I love that they have a glass option, multiple sizes and fun colors. They come apart easily for cleaning and are durable and can grow with baby. I use them for feeding and breast milk storage. So far I am very happy with these products.

I loved these bottles with my first child, so when I had my second child I got another set and have regretted it. The new nipple design has such a slow flow, my kid gets frustrated and gives up on the bottle. I was hoping to be able to pump and switch off overnight feeds with my husband, but definitely can’t until we find a bottle that works.

Hi there, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you are not happy with the flow rate of the Philips natural response nipple. Our new Natural Response Nipple lets your baby use their natural drinking rhythm, like they do when breastfeeding. Enthusiastic drinkers use strong suction and compression while drinking, resulting in greater milk flow, so they usually need a lower nipple flow from the Natural Response range (such as nipple number 1 or 2) to avoid overflow. Slow and steady drinkers are likely to prefer a higher nipple flow (such as nipple 4 or 5) to ensure enough milk flows, regardless of age. You can start with the nipple that comes with the bottle and adjust from there. If after a few feeding attempts you have no success, consider changing to a different nipple flow. You might need a higher flow if you see your baby struggling to get milk out or playing with the nipple. If this does not help or you have any further questions, please feel free to get in touch via social media. We’re available on Facebook (@Philips) and Twitter (@PhilipsCare). Don’t worry, if you don’t use social media, you can also reach out to us via the contact page: www.Philips.com/contact. Hope to speak to you soon. Kind regards, Philips Consumer Care
