Playtopia 36'' Foam Ball Pit with 250 ct Ball: Develops Gross Motor Skills

TLDR: If you are considering for your dog, Ball Size is approx. 2.1" inches - does not seem suitable for larger dogs. (see pics) Full review: Set is cute. Color is great. May be a good fit for children. However, if you are considering as an alternate use for your dog, the balls are significantly smaller at approximately 2.1 inches and in my opinion, are a choking hazard for dogs. For reference our dog balls are approximately 2.7 inches and although it doesn’t seem like a lot, it is a very large difference. Please look at the photos as I measured with a caliper out of curiosity, in hopes of helping someone else who is looking for this information as the manufacturer box or website description doesn’t show this. With that said, the size of the balls were indicated in the Q&A section, however they didn’t look even 2” when I opened the box which is why I decided to measure. Also, you should note that the outer part of the ball is plastic, (somebody had mentioned they were foam, but I don’t see any indication of that as far as the balls themselves unless there is foam underneath the plastic. The only thing I would personally do differently if I were the manufacturer, is maybe put a zip-on or snap-on top if you want to pause playtime without worrying about balls going all over the house. However I guess that could be considered a hazard also if a child got stuck inside. I hope this helps somebody. I think for a kid, it seems like a fabulous product or maybe a very small dog. For reference or dog is over 50 lbs, but I wouldn’t have given this to our 35 lb dog either.

this was my grandsons favorite toy so I bought several more for gifts. He got it when we was 9 months old and him and his almost 4 year old brother plays with it every day.

Had a great amount of balls for a 1 year old. Had a bit of that strange foam smell when first opened but goes away. Had 2 babies (8m & 13m) playing in it together with plenty of room. Had a 4 year old play in it by herself and had a blast. The best gift ever.

wanted to love it, however the ball are a chocking hazard. The balls colllaspse very easily where a child can swallow them

The Playtopia Foam Ball Pit has been a great addition to our playroom! It’s not quite as high-end as some of the pricier brands, but for the price, it really delivers. My son has been using it since he was 12 months old (he’s now 20 months), and it’s held up wonderfully through months of active play. The ball count that comes with it is definitely on the low side, we added an extra 250 balls, and that made all the difference. The foam is sturdy, and the cover is machine washable, which is a must. It was a bit of a struggle to get the cover back on after washing, but it didn’t damage the shape of the pit at all. Definitely recommend for anyone not looking to splurge on a high-end version.

Dog loves it. It's nothing super high quality but for the price it's alright. Balls will not survive puppy teeth, probably fine for children.
