Q: The State of California warning then only applies if you plan on drilling, sawing, sanding, or further machining the wood? Or does it off VOC's/gases in a static state?

  • A: This desk is solid wood; it does have a lacquer finish, but there is no formaldehyde detected in our lacquer. The appropriate Prop 65 warning is for wood dust and yes, it is generally more intended for someone who planned to change the wood as you've stated. However, we feel it's important to include the warning.

Q: Is this desk made of MDF/Veneer/engineered wood or is it made of solid wood? Just wondering why there is the California warning

  • A: Hello, This item is made with solid wood. The California warning is for 'wood dust', not formaldehyde nor other chemicals. We do use this message- "Drilling, sawing, sanding or machining wood products can expose you to wood dust, a substance known to the State of California to cause cancer."
