Description
Take USB 3.0 to new lengths with this USB 3.0 Active extension cable from Monoprice! With data transfer rates up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0, USB 3.0 is quickly gaining in popularity. However, although it has a higher voltage and current level, passive cables are still limited to a maximum length less than 15 feet. This active extension cable draws power from the USB 3.0 bus and uses it to boost and regenerate the data signals, ensuring that full SuperSpeeds can be maintained to much longer lengths. By combining two of these extension cables with a 3 meter passive cables a total length of 13 meters (42.6 feet).This 5 meter (16.4 foot) cable is backwards compatible with all previous USB versions and any USB equipped device. It has a USB 3.0 A male connector on one end and a USB 3.0 A female port on the other end. Per the USB 3.0 spec, the plastic inside each connector is colored blue to distinguish it from connectors designed for previous USB versions.

Love these active cables
They are a little fussy but work well once dialed in. I've found that it's important to use really short cables at the business end - either to your device or to a hub.

my usb3.2 cable reads as 3.2 without this extension, but through this extension it reads as usb2.0

Cable doesn't work
The 15ft cable doesn't work. I tired multiple computers and tried powering the cable with an external 5 volts nothing was able to work. I tried a keyboard, mouse, and webcam. I don't recommend buying this cable.

solved equipment relocation need
Needed to reconfigure work station with Fujitsu ScanSnap iX-1500 farther from Mac Mini than device cable allowed. Couldn’t use USB hub because of previous experience with scanner having problems. Hoped this would solve the distance need, and it has! No problems. Scanner stays connected, and it’s now more accessible.

Works exactly as intended
I'm running this from my PC to another USB hub. From there I've got a printer and various external USB drives plugged in. Works perfectly. Transfer speeds seem to take a bit of a hit, transferring on average 40MB/s, and this is with USB 3.0. If you're not in a rush more than adequate. But if you have other peripherals you want to put elsewhere as desktop space is at a premium, e.g. printers/scanners/dongles, then this is a perfect solution.

Cable did the trick!
Cable works flawlessly. Allowed us to to hook up a thermal printer we use for orders to our router so that everyone in our shipping dept can print labels from one shared printer. Since the router and printer were further apart but moving either closer to the other was not logistically convenient this USB extension cable was the perfect solution

This is a GREAT USB extension. I've testing this with two of these back to back (30-feet + 6-feet to device) and it works GREAT! I used this to place a USB RFID reader on a door window, connecting back to a Raspberry Pi (USB 2.0 only) and it's been working rock-solid for 3 months now! Highly recommend this if you need to extend your USB beyond 15 feet and can confirm it works just as well at 30 feet - I believe I read it can do 45 feet, but I don't have that need so, haven't tested it, but no doubt based on how things work thus far.
