The Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format provides for a Digital Optical Audio signal, commonly referred to as Toslink. Toslink allows for the distribution of uncompressed 2-channel PCM audio or compressed multichannel audio, such as DTS or Dolby 5.1 or 7.1. Being an optical signal, Toslink is immune to problems that can plague electrical signals, such as crosstalk, magnetic interference, or radio frequency interference. This premium cable features a full-sized Toslink connector on each end, with metal connector heads and a metal mesh jacket. The metal jacket helps protect the cable from nicks, cuts, and kinks, which could cause damage to the internal optical fiber.

    Manufacturing or design defect for he 35 foot length

    Received 3. All had the same defect. The optical fiber does not sit flush with the optical connector, On one cable, it was flush on one end and 1./4" extended on the other. On the other cable, it was flush one end and extended 3/8" on the other. On the third cable, it was 1/8" extended on both ends., striaght out of the box. Returned them all for a refund. Monoprice customer service is outstanding , which is why I gave 3 stars, 1 for the product and 5 for customer service, I do not know if the shorter lengths are also problematic, just the 35 foot length. I also tried to push the fiber back in, like another review, but it just sprung back out.

    Generic surround sound

    I have a TV with wireless capability and optical toslink digital out so I was able to run it from the TV approximately 30 ft away along the wall and underneath the bed and put a speaker on the wall that was of same compatibility which assist volume control, awesome.

    Amazing product!

    Amazing quality, however, it was longer than I needed. That’s my mistake though. And this works better than any other cable I’ve used, it feels really high quality and looks great!

    Plug is too heavy!

    While a beautiful piece of work, it does not work! The plugs are too large and heavy. The plugs did not stay put straight in my new Audiocontrol Concert AVR-9 Receiver or my LG OLED TV. by drooping just a bit, the light gets distorted and no audio is passed. In short, great cable, lousy plugs, thus worthless.

    Used for TV to AV receiver audio in a DTV to 4K TV to AVR hook up. Very high quality metal braided cable and alloy terminals, fit allowed a little rotating but no issues.

    Would have been 5 stars but one of the cables had the optical ferrell poking out, I had to push it back in and try to get it connected before it pushed out again. Otherwise, The cables are of outstanding quality. The sale price was ridiculous .... $3.50
