Great Rice Substitute...not mushy at all for me!
Great substitute for rice…not mushy at all and held its shape. Directions are different than normal rice instructions and water needs to be drained out with fine strainer after cooking. The garlic seasoning doesn’t add too much flavor, but I just treated it like plain rice and served with pot roast on top. Delicious!! I’m 100% buying again. Their penne pasta was great too!

Not worth it
Misleading packaging. It’s not even close to rice. I swear half of it disintegrated in water. It’s just mushy, thick mucus, and weird. I just threw it out after making it. Wasted my time and money.

More like orzo than rice
I'll give Banza the benfit of the doubt and say that it's probably unintentional, but the packaging is misleading. It looks like one of those 90-second microwaveable rice pouches. If I had known there would be boiling and draining involved, I probably would not have orderered this. The texture is alright. More like pasta than rice. Just like with Banza pasta, it's easy to overcook this. Moreso because the pieces are smaller. I made this a couple times and the first time turned out like mush. Second time was much better, but you have to keep an eye on it. Took a minute or so less than the instructions stated. It's not an explosion of flavor, the garlic and olive oil is pretty subtle, but it's there, and this "rice" is pleasantly fragrant. Again though, it's defintely more pasta-like than rice-like.

Delicious once extra spices are added
Was the right texture and cooked up very easily. I would say it definitely needed more flavor though. I cooked some flavorful chicken and poured the leftover juice at the bottom of the pan on top of it to sit. When I heated it back up it tasted amazing 10/10

Not rice?! Who knew?
This was a real winner for dinner. I was skeptical at first that no one in my family would like it but it was a huge hit! You can’t even tell it’s not real rice and it’s full of flavor. We paired it with chicken and it was delicious!

The healthy rice that tastes really good
This rice is quite tasty and actually good for you. I eat it by itself but love it with salmon. Thanks Banza

Sticky, Mushy Mess
I cooked this according to the directions, even timing how long the “rice” was simmering, but it turned out very thick and mushy. The texture wasn’t like rice at all, well maybe I could compare it to sticky sushi rice. If I wanted to, I could have shaped it all into a ball right after cooking, throw it into the air, catch it, and it would still hold its shape. If you add the optional oil or butter, it might get rid of the stickiness. The instructions didn’t say to rinse, only to drain, so that could help too. Also, you should know that the serving size of 1.8 ounces is based on the weight of the dry, uncooked product. There are “about” 4 servings according to the bag, so the nutrition info might not be the most accurate if you’re closely tracking your macros or calories. And there’s a seasoning packet involved, so it’s not like you can easily cook only one 1.8 Oz serving at a time. Tasted pretty good though.

Very gross taste. Maybe rancid?
I am a huge fan of the chickpea pasta and have even replaced it over traditional pasta. I was excited to try this rice and thought the rice and the seasoning smelt a bit off but made it anyways. Can’t force myself to have more than one bite, it is disgusting. I don’t know if I got a rancid package or something, but I’m questioning if all of the 5 star reviews are tasting the same thing I am.

Tasty alternative
This rice is delicious. The texture holds up well in rice recipes that I’ve previously used with long grain white rice. My family enjoys it as well. The protein and fiber content makes this perfect for my dietary needs. It’s quick and easy to make.

Disappointed
The instructions say to add the seasoning package but none was provided. Pretty bland tasting as provided. I won’t buy again as I won’t know if the package has the seasoning or not. Disappointed.

Delicious Rice Replacer
I haven't had rice in 34 years due to being allergic to it. This.. this is a great substitute. I highly recommend it for anyone allergic to rice. It tastes good, and has the same texture profile as rice.

Orzo, not "rice"
I have found recipes for orzo better suited than pretending this is rice. The flavor is pasta and tastes fine like all Banza products!

Use a fine mesh strainer for best result!
Delicious - but following the directions and using a fine mesh strainer is key! Made it once just draining and it was a lumpy mess. Made it again with a fine mesh strainer and it was wonderful.
