I bought this mat based on reviews. My dog has Cushing's and I needed something to cool her down. I was recommend to get a cooling mat that will help. The size is large enough and the mat cushion is a little thick which is comfortable for my pet dog. However, after using it, it wasn't cool enough. I thought it might take some time to work. After 6 months it started to have a bad odor. I used water and soap based on instructions, pet remove odor spray and finally after doing some research I used dry baking soda and allowed it to sit for 24 hours. The odor was gone but that only worked for a few days and the odor is back again. It really stinks! No wonder my dog didn't want to lay on it. I bought another cooling mat for $15.00, it cooler and no odor. It's also machine washable. Arf is not machine washable and its advised you cannot keep ARF cooling mat in the heat, which doesn't make sense if you're traveling in a car.

Not for chewing animals or puppies. Get them out of the chewing stage or have suitable alternatives for bored dogs. Never put in crate. Thats bad info for all cooling mats. If your dog is well trained and you know beyond doubt they wont chew it up in the crate then go for it. But they aint meant for crates. Do not allow direct sunlight to hit them. Get the protector cover if you dont want to buy one every year and dont leave in the garage during the winter. Heat destroys these things sooner then they are designed. Ive yet to have one last past a year that wasnt a bit messed up or it’s cooling properties not as they used to be. Their nails can poke holes in it. Trim their nails. They get filthy. The cover lessens the mats purpose of cooling but do save it’s life. I throw mine in a trash bag then into the refrigerator to get it cold for my dogs. If you have a long haired dog and find that they have difficulty cooling themselves in the warmer months. This mat is a necessity. They don't last long past a year mainly from storing it in a location that get hot like garages or trunks. Or outside w the pool stuff. Or similar. Buy from the direct maker because all other sellers store their products in warm warehouses and they def aint storing a cooling mats for dogs in their cooler walkins. Buy the $40 one. The biggest one isnt priced accordingly and it’s a pain to deal with. Better off buying two $40 mats then one big one for that price. You can use the mats for your bed too. Under your sheets. Keeps you cool in the summer. This past summer was the first summer i wasnt able to afford buying mats for my two dogs. They survived the heat tho. The hot pups love this mat tho. If they dont seem to take to it. Just rub one of their toys on it to transfer their scent onto it.

We bought this for our lab puppy and he was able to tear it within minutes and the gel leaked all over his crate. Not durable at all and potentially dangerous.

The size should read 31.4 x 37.7 for 8lb LARGE mat. The size in product description is wrong; it presently shows Small dimensions.

My golden is obsessed with this mat. She rests on it during the day and sleeps on it at night. We’re now buying a second one to have in another part of the house for our pup.
