This is my second one of this style, both 1st gen and 2nd gen. My cat's urine somehow ends up on the rails and with the crystal dust it mucks it up. I have tried to shake it, vacuum it, use compressed air and even take it all apart and clean it. But it doesn't take long before its mucked up again and the rake squeals and doesn't move. I want this to work so much. I see there's a smart option and an easy clean option...I wonder if either of them have the rails more protected. Or if there is a better fix out there.

My cat has bas been using the covered automatic litter box for 4 months. She weighs 8 pounds and we have to scoop the box every 4 days. We finally got rid of this litter box and went back to the regular little box after she peed on the floor. Totally disappointed and it was a waste of money.

I bought this a week ago and regret spending the money on it. It says is 5x odor control and I must say it smells just as bad as a regular cat box. I do clean after every use but the odor is still there really bad. For the price I paid for it it is definitely not worth it at all.

We just got this and super disappointed 😞 it's messy and doesn't clean like it say! There are clumps of poo everywhere . I would like to know what we are doing wrong and possibly a refund

I have had this since June and the longer I have it the more I hate it.. never scoops right, pushes so much clean litter in the little side tray thing while racking, doesn’t help at all with the smell, tracking is awful. The list goes on and on.

My partner and I bought this box for our kitten, and we were so excited. We used it for about one year before finally admitting defeat and switching. The first issue was that the crystals on the top would appear dry and fresh, but not even an inch below the rest of the crystal would be wet, soaked with urine, and rancid creating a foul smell (our cat urinates on average 2x per day and eats a fully wet food diet of high quality hill's science diet so his urine is healthy and not inherently smelly). His urine would adsorb into the crystals, but not dry, and then layers of wet crystal would sit on the bottom until the insert was changed. Gross. The second issue was the poop rake. If his poop was anything but 100% hard, it would get stuck in the rack and smeared and smushed all over the sides of the box. This also added to a foul smell and made us need to replace the inserts much more frequently, often 4-5x times per month to keep the box remotely not rancid (incredibly expensive). After deciding we couldn't live with the constant smell of urine in our home anymore, we switched back to a regular stainless steel litter box and high-quality clumping litter. We scoop the box 1x per day now, have pretty much NO smell, and are saving so much money. It is so much easier to scoop litter 1x per day and have a fresh-smelling home than to constantly deal with smeared cat poop and urine smell. Please just get a good stainless steel box and high-quality litter.

This will be my second one I’ve purchased. The first one I bought worked really great and was definitely quieter that the other brand I had bought before, but after about five years of no problems it started making this horrible screeching noise while it was raking. I got it to stop for a while after taking it apart and putting WD-40 in some of the moving parts but the noise would just come back. So, I had no problems with buying another one.

I love the top entry that prevents my dogs from snacking! No problem with the cat making the transition. Just set it up next to the regular litter box for a week or so to let them figure it out. Love crystal litter- no litter box smell.

Easy peasy and no more scooping! My cat used it right away without the top and then we put the top on, he had no fear.

My husband and I bought this a couple of weeks ago and it works okay, but the tray needs replacing every few days with us having 2 cats that use it regularly. It's way more expensive to replace the whole tray every few days than it was to just scoop and replace litter myself. If you have 1 cat, I'm sure this would be a great investment but it just can't handle 2 cats. The sifter itself also gets stuck a lot and doesn't scrape all of the clumps, I still have to go and scoop daily like I would with a normal litter box.

I have had alot of stopping issues,that requires unplugging and then plugging it back in. Scoop arm is dragging and getting stuck. First stop of run there is a loud bang noise. Then it finishes run back to the beginning. This happens with each run.very annoying. I feel the idea and concept is sound,maybe I just received a bad unit. Thx

I bought this a month ago with an open mind. It says that the literal last 20 to 30 days for one cat, only lasted 10 days till it started smelling horribly. The poop backs up and get stuck in the grading system that goes across the litter and then you have to take your time and clean it. I would not recommend this product. It’s not what it seems.

She was understanding since my litter box was not working as efficiently as it had previously so she offered me a good discount and I replaced it with a new one for my six month old kitty.

I bought one 6 months ago it connected to my phone, so I wanted a second one. The picture showed that you could connect that 2nd one to a phone but when I received it there was no wi-fi connection on it. Disappointed with that.

I love my PetSafe litter box but it has recently stopped working. One of the lights is showing up in purple. From what I have been able to find online, a sensor is no longer working. How can I replace this? Please help. I need this wonderful box to work again. Thank you.

I bought this product a few months ago but the pins that are supposed to “snap” the waste trap lid to the litter box have both broken off. Now the entire machine doesn’t work correctly and I can’t find the replacement waste trap lid anywhere. Very disappointed!

Had this for less then 3 weeks, cat barely used it first week at 34 times being used. Started smell after 10 days very strongly, the urine odor doesnt get absorbed within 30 mins for sure. I see the responses about not being in humid area, we have this near our living room. Do they want us to be in basically a desert, with no air moisture? I am super disappointed and kind of upset in how poor the "odor free crystals" work. I guess urine doesnt clump and absorbs urine, yup smells very bad. Doesn't seem any better then regular litter so far other then not scooping daily

We had the first generation of the PetSafe automatic litter box and it worked great for 6 years. The rake wore out and the box needed to be replaced. We had no hesitation going with the second generation version of similar design, but this version is highly flawed. For starters we used to be able to go almost a full month without the box smelling at all. This box can’t go more than week or so before the smell starts to fill the room. I’ve been trying to figure out why and have 2 conclusions. 1. The area where the poop gets raked into under the flap gets filled up with clean litter and there is no place for the poop to go, so it collects in the area in front of the “poop zone” where the smells can escape a lot easier. 2. The plastic on the second generation doesn’t cover the entirety of the cardboard flap on the tray like the original version did. We found our cat peeing toward the front of the litter box and because the cardboard flap isn’t covered, the pee soaks into the cardboard instead of making it into the litter. I would suggest staying away from the second generation of this box and hope they go back to what worked from the original design.
