    Q: The nutritional label says 7g added sugar, but sugar is not listed in the ingredients. How is this explained?

    • A: Our US oatmilks (aside from our flavored ones like Chocolate) don’t contain any added sweeteners like sugar, which is why they’re not listed as an ingredient. The sugar referenced on the nutrition label is produced during our enzymatic production process. Basically, we use natural enzymes to liquify our oats, which enables us to create a really creamy product that retains a lot of the nutrition from the original oat (like protein, unsaturated fats, fibers, and carbs). As part of this process, the enzymes break the starches in our oats down into smaller components, including simple sugar like maltose. Now, you might be asking, but why does it say "added sugar?" Well, the FDA guidance on sugar labeling provides that any sugar created during a product’s production process should be categorized as 'added.' So that's why it's listed as 'added sugar' on our nutrition labels. The amount of sugar in a serving of our unflavored oatmilk is on par with or less than the amount in a glass of cow's milk.

    • A: Oatly’s Barista Edition Oatmilk was created specifically for foaming in espresso and coffee drinks. The Original Oatmilk has a slightly lower fat content and is a lighter option that’s great for sipping or in cereal etc. No preservatives are added to our recipes so all Oatly cartons should be refrigerated and used within 7 days after they have been opened.

It’s super convenient and still tastes just as good as refrigerated oat milk. It’s creamy, smooth, and works perfectly in my coffee. It blends well, doesn’t overpower anything, and gives my coffee that nice, rich texture. I also use it in smoothies or just on its own.

After looking at the ingredients for this dairy free plant based milk I decided to give it a try. After buying it, I let it sit for about 2 weeks before opening. I must say that this is the best oat milk I have purchased. It was used in coffee, tea, cream of wheat and oatmeal. This is great product to stock up on because it can be left in the pantry for up to a year. The packaging was an attention grabber. This product was not easy to find. It is sold online but hard to find on the grocery store shelf. I would definitely but this product again. I am curious to taste the difference between the shelf and refrigerated version.

The taste and texture were both what I expected from an oat milk whether shelf stable or refrigerated. I used it in all the same ways and was happy with the experience.

      Very yummy and smooth, better than expected
