A perfect, sweet (not bitter!) dark roast for those who enjoy milk or cream in their coffee. Named for the world-famous Serengeti grasslands in East Africa, our Serengeti Blend combines a fruity Kenyan with a full-bodied Colombian for balanced, bold flavor.

Serengeti is also a wonderful choice for cold brew.

ABOUT KAHAWA 1893:

Kahawa 1893 is a specialty coffee company founded and run by Margaret Nyamumbo, a third-generation coffee farmer from Kenya. Kahawa means coffee in Swahili, the primary language spoken there. Margaret grew up on a coffee farm in Kisii, four hours from Kenya’s capital, Nairobi.

As a child, Margaret observed that women supply 90% of coffee production labor but often see little or no financial gain. She founded Kahawa 1893 to help empower the women that make coffee trade possible and share exquisite African beans with the world.

Kahawa 1893’s packaging contains a QR code. When scanned, customers can learn our relationships with farmers and support them by tipping. We match all tips dollar-for-dollar to double the impact.

    Great coffee!

    I'm not a coffee connisseur but I have tried a fair amount of premium coffee brands. This coffee has become a favorite of mine this last year or so. It's pretty smooth, has a nice rich flavor and I don't find it to be bitter. I usually use a French press or pour over to brew. Target's prices can't be beat and I can ususally get it on sale. Highly recommend giving it a try!

    Very Smooth Coffee!

    I absolutely love this coffee! I purchased the 'Safari Blend' in the K-Cup option, and it’s exactly what I was hoping for—bold and smooth. It paired perfectly with my creamer, making it even more delicious. I can’t wait to try the other blends!

    Must buy!

    This coffee is excellent! There is a no acidity. It is very smooth and has a subtle chocolate flavor. Absolutely delicious and definitely a rebuy! One of our favorites in our house.

    This medium roast coffee is how I start off most of my mornings. The flavors are bold, uplifting, and the tasting notes are spot on!     Seriously good Medium roast Coffee & Great Value

    We love it! It’s flavorful without being too bold. Not too light and not too dark - a perfect medium roast. I am coffee snob who researches where the beans are grown and I really liked this coffee. Great for a breakfast pickup or evening nightcap - one of the most versatile coffees I've tasted. Also works great for espresso. It smells delightful, and it has a slight chocolate background to me. Nice body, I was able to use the same amount of cream as I do for light roast without it tasting too strong and it is not bitter at all so no sugar needed. At this price, it’s a steal ! Love that I am supporting a great mission too by drinking this coffee!

    Finally, a coffee that the whole family likes

    My parents recently visited and my partner & I were struggling to find a coffee that the whole family good enjoy. My parents are old school and prefer dark roasts (and use a percolator at home, so their coffee is SUPER dark), but my partner & I typically go for medium/medium-light. We appreciate having the flavor of the beans come out a little more, and usually do pour overs or French press. Since I can’t make two pots of coffee every morning (and evening…), I searched around for a medium roast that was dark enough for the parental units but light enough to be enjoyable. Kahawa 1893 - Safari really hit the spot. Definitely using this as my go-to moving forward since it works so well with groups.
